This is spectacularly done Pam. Your rhyme and meter are flawless, the poem flows smoothly and the subject matter is interesting and well expressed.
Well done! This is my favorite of yours so far.

You are most welcome!

At first, I didn't notice the six star rating so thank you for that extra store. I appreciate it.

My pleasure Pam!

This is somewhat like my poem, "Greed", although you present it from a slightly different angle.
He wants to make a lot of cash.
Emotions go into the trash.
So well done. I can picture the old man sitting alone having no friends.
Retired now, he sits alone,
just hoping someone calls his phone.
This poem leads me by hand to the visual of a lonely man who died without letting his feelings be known.
As usual, well-done Pam.

What a miserable life he led if he had no emotions to share with anyone. To live your life in pursuit of money and maybe fame is horribly sad. He doesn't seem to have noticed that fact, or never made any effort to change.

Wow! I believe many of us are guilty of this: being happy on the outside but miserable on the inside. I lean on my family. They have always been true. Thank you for sharing this excellent, thought-provoking piece, my friend.
God bless
Steve

You don't seem to be one of those men who hides his feelings. I get a sense of warmth from you that I would not get if you were one of those men.
I could be wrong but that's what I think. I always appreciate you.
Thanks for the great review

My pleasure.
No, not like the Reformed Man. But I was hiding my feelings many years ago when I fell into a 2 year depression. My life changed after that. You're right, I don't hide my feelings and am brutally honest. I genuinely care for all walks of life and pray for peaceful times.
Thank you for the comments above, my friend. This was a great start to my day.

Build up your treasures in heaven. Not on earth where moth and rust doth corrupt. I found your poem of the frosty man interesting. In the end he had nothing and you can't take the money with you. K xx

This is very well written, and I enjoyed listening to it. There are so many people in this world who are hiding behind a wall and not letting their feelings be known to others. For a long time, it was very hard for me to express my feelings about things, but with the Lord's help, I have been able to overcome that and I have been able to express my feelings, even when others see me in the wrong light. I had a young man today who called me a person who lack morals because of my presidential preference. Patricia.

I would never do that. It's just a difference of opinion. That's all. Thanks for your wonderful review.

Man. I love this too. The rhymes are memorable, esp. the last set, and the picture captures the words perfectly. Often rhymes tend to feel forced, but these felt good on my tongue. I like your abilities. A bit jealous too.

lol. About being jealous. I do invest a lot of time and work in each poem. It's difficult to tell the story and keep the meter and the rhyme at the same time. But I look at it as a challenge and I enjoy it.
Thank you so much for your wonderful comments and the shiny stars. It is much appreciated.

I thought the measured meter here, as well as the footfalls of the rhyme scheme, created a sober mood appropriate for the theme. You had some great images too of the mother who sees the bright eyes in her child, and then the lonely old man tied up in his money, sitting alone in his room. Food for thought. estory

I love this poem, Pam. It reminded me of a Cat Steven's song about a father and son. It's the cycle of life. Hopefully, most elders are happy.
I love this one...
"Just like a bird who broke his wing,
he never felt the urge to sing."

Men are taught they shouldn't show emotions. I think over the years that has changed somewhat, but still men try to hide emotions. I enjoyed reading this poem. Thank you for sharing.
