Ooo, very good, Wendy. Such truth in such a pithy poem. I generally don't comment on these shorties, but this one was so good, it's my pleasure to heap some praise on it.

Just as the waves slowly eat away at the rocks, so too do words eat away at the psyche, especially those directed toward you. Many you can just dismiss, but many can take either an obvious or subtle toll on your emotions and feelings about yourself. Words are powerful and should not be used lightly. Once spoken, they are hard to ignore.

Beautiful job in just 6 words!

I have done very little poetry this year, so your thoughts and comments are very pleasing and encouraging. Your thoughtful review is insightful. Many thanks!

Hi Wendy,
There's only so much you can do with six words. Not an easy contest.
I'm wondering, do you mean a "biography" by saying "words shape lives"? Or is it deeper than that. Maybe popular opinion shapes lives~ what people think of us. Opinions may be totally untrue.
I was thinking about that line, "words shape lives", and I think my pointed head came up with a humorous line... and it even rhymes!
wives shape lives
I know I'm not the same person I was before marriage. That's all I'm going to say about that!
Good Luck in the contest!
Hugs,
Kimbob

The words shaping our lives are the biography of everyone. As do the words of public opinion. All that and much more. I like your whimsical adaptation to a rhyming version - very clever.
    Thanks for reviewing!

A very beautifully succinct poem for the six word poetry contest. You've mastered this one. A real gem and ribbon winner for sure.

Sending you my best today as always, and my very best wishes for the upcoming contest.

-Very nice image and presentation, Wendy.
-You have done a good job with your six words.
-Effective imagery and alliteration, along with a good topic.
-I like the contrast between waves and words, although
they are linked by shaping.
-One shapes shorelines, the other shapes lives.
-A very good entry; good luck!!

You say so much in few words. It is so true that words shape lives. I also like your words about the ocean shaping the shore, also so true. Short poems are more difficult to create but you nailed it here.

I love your 6 words poem, it's very powerful and thought-provoking and in only a few words, that is not an easy thing. I like the juxtaposition of words and waves; also the alliteration. Well done. Good luck in the contest!

Such a powerful statement in just a few words! It makes us more careful about what we say. Words can affect us in a positive - or negative way.. Speak wisely!

This is a winner, my friend. We don't need lots of words to get a valid point across and you have made your point. Remember, "sticks and stones may break my bones but words can never hurt me."In your case, you have presented six words of truth. K xx

Thanks so much, Kay. The trouble is that words can be very hurtful and cause lifetime trauma. Or be extremely positive and encouraging. Enormous power in either direction.
