We cannot change what happened in our youth. The only thing that we can do is to change our attitude towards it. I had some horrible things as I was growing up in my household, but I have been able to overcome those things. I wish you the very best with all of your writing and I enjoyed your club event poem. Patricia.

A great message here, Bob, that everyone has a worth and should never feel that life has fallen foul of them and that they are beyond redemption. I love the way your delightful, upbeat verse conveys your examples in this lovely conversational poetry. My favourite line is: An' daily copped one on their arse. You know how to put a smile on my face on this typically rainy British summer's day:) Well done! Debbie

I think I'd prefer a typically rainy British summer's day to the miserably cold freezing winter's day we're presently enduring. At least we have our summer to look forward to. And cricket too.

Life is a series of choices - and consequences of those same choices. We can't alter the past, but we can learn from it, and it is good to remember that Jesus is in fact the oly One whose opinion matters, in the grand final of life.

Wendy G I have to agree with every word you say. Thank you also for your very generous appraisal of this poem. Also love your second sentence. I once had a character say a similar thing. His words were; "We can't change the past, but we can adapt to the future."

That is so true my friend, because we can be saved by grace, there's no way in the we can saved by our birth, (unless born again) or our generosity or the good deeds, but only by faith, and that applies to anyone who believes, well done Bob, this is a great poem my friend, blessings Roy
Stick your neck out and copy Ephesians 2:8-9.

Just read that quote Roy, And I promise you I'll try not to boast. Thank you again for such a nice reply. It is greatly appreciated. I truly value your support and on-line friendship.

I loved this post Bob, it is inventive and a joy to read. Life is full of challenges and we all take different paths as we sometimes make good and bad choices along the way, but as you say, we are not properly judges until death occurs. I loved the sentiments here, I wish I had a six left for you, love Dolly x x x

An honourary six is every bit as much appreciated. Thank you Dolly for such a thoughtful and kind reply.

This is a very interesting reminder, especially for those who aren't very happy with their lot.
Whatever this life brings us, life in heaven will rectify it.

It's been a while since I have seen anything of yours. Had you fallen ill. I am sure you were missed or... somehow you were dropped from my friend list. i.d.k.

N'ot ill, I've just been lazy. I've been dropped many times in my life, sporting team selectors can be so unkind. Thank you for finding me again. Perhaps I should have offered sympathy. Great to hear from you.
