Hi Rhonda, you're surpassing yourself. It's a wonderful chapter.. Echo is on her way back to Theo. An excellent choice, but will she make it? Will they finally defeat Hades? Well, we shall see. Hugs, Ulla xcx

    Hi Ulla!!
Thanks for the six!!! Echo is on her way to Theo's garden, but it wasn't quite her decision. Phillip sort of orchestrated that. Now, will she stay put, or let herself get drawn in?

    Thanks again,
    Hugs,
    Rhonda

So, Echo is on her way to Theo. That was probably the best plan. I am hoping she makes it. I hope Hades doesn't stop her somehow. I really do like this story. It wonderful.

    Hi Barbara!!
Thanks for the six stars, my friend!!
Echo is on her way to the garden, and, you've figured it out, Hades isn't going to just let it go that easily.
    I appreciate your support,
    Hugs,
    Rhonda

And so the battle will be joined. At all risks, Echo must be able to resist and escape the clutches of Hades. I know with everything within me that Hades will be forever frustrated despite his power. His power cannot ever be stronger than the power of love.

    Hi Nolan,
Thanks so much for the six stars, my friend!! Echo will have her hands full once she gets to the garden. While she's out of combat's way, the real battle for her soul will begin.
Love is certainly a great motivator!!
    Hugs,

Bravo! I felt the tension build with every word as they stood facing off for battle. Great chapter! The war has begun, but something, somewhere must magically save these people from Hades. Magnificent!

    Hi Carol,
Thank you so much for the six stars!! I appreciate you taking the time to review. I know you spend a lot of time writing and trying to deal with storm damage.
There are a lot of players lined up for this battle, and they have friends and colleagues on both sides.

An excellent chapter, Rhonda, and I like the pictures you chose for the beginning and end. A very good beginning leading from the previous chapter. We can feel how conflicted Theo is having to give up his horse, but it wasn't worth losing Echo so he had to let Hades have the horse.

I am glad it worked out that Theo was pleased Nifty would get wings, and that he could also visit his prized horse. I also liked his question: How many had shaken the hand of Death and lived?

You do a good job setting up the battle scene with who would be involved and how they had prepared themselves. Rebecca has an interesting response to Echo about how they will go on and live and remember the war and its aftermath, while others will die, and not live with those memories.

There is a good break from these thoughts and war as Echo thinks of her time in the valley, but it wasn't long before all of that changed. You also use excellent descriptive detail about what is taking place next, and how various ones are dressed and ready for battle.

Rebecca has good advice for Echo; don't go right away, make Hades wait. At this point she is being pulled in two directions, a tough situation for anyone. I think Phillip had the right idea about speaking to Echo's horse. I like how Forbearance "reared up, pawed the air like an enraged stallion, then charged into the woods." Very well done, my friend.

    Hi Pam,
Thank you for the excellent review and six stars!! I'm glad you liked the way I resolved the horse issue. There had to be more than Theo just giving in and letting Nifty go.

I'm glad you liked the artwork. I'm trying to learn new things on this site, lol. Don't know until you try!!

The battle scene was harder for me, so I'm glad it came across well. The mortality, immortality aspect has to be brought up now and then to show them being immortal isn't the win all it might seem.

You perceived the ending just as I hoped!!! It came across as intended. I'm glad you pointed it out.

    Take care,
    Rhonda

Oh wow, Rhonda, this is immense and I'm not surprised you needed the extra week to compose this impressive chapter building up to the dreaded battle. It's absolutely faultless. You never overdo imagery in favour of plot. It's a perfect and evocative balance and, really, very emotional for one who doesn't normally read this kind of genre. Excellent character detail too. The handing over of the gift is my favourite part of the story as Theo is filled with a blend of sorrow at the loss and delighted relief that Nifty will become like a second Pegasus with wings. Well done, Rhonda, for this wonderfully vivid chapter! Take care Debbie xo

    Hi Debbie,
Thank you for the six stars, my friend!!
I appreciate your comments on the quality. That's just it, I won't post something, usually, that isn't exactly what I want it to be. I used to, but then read someone on here, maybe g-man, who said we weren't just storytellers, we are writers, and that carried the responsibility to write it well. I'd rather skip a week than put something out I wasn't happy with. Thank you for commenting on it!! That means a lot!

I also appreciate your comments on imagery vs plot. I have a tendency to rely too much on dialogue and plot and neglect the imagery. It's a very delicate juggling act. This feedback is helpful!!

I actually spent more time on the bit on Theo and Thanatos than the rest of it. I was trying to capture emotion and give depth to both characters!!

    Thanks again, my friend,
    Hugs,
    Rhonda

I mentioned about the imagery because I've read posts here in which there is so much gloss that the plot ends up getting completely buried. I felt your balance was absolutely perfect. Less is definitely more for me and you skilfully achieved great atmosphere without ever going over the top. And the dialogue between Theo and Thanatos worked well too. Sincerely, a great job!

Thank you for the clarification. I've read them as well, and thought, perhaps, I didn't take enough time with the gloss. I appreciate knowing what I'm doing works better for keeping track of things. I tend to get long-winded enough as it is without adding anything else!!

I love the concept of this entire story. Greek gods of myth in the United States: you have an amazing imagination! Good luck with this novel and thank you for sharing it. Happy writing and best wishes!

    Hi Lindsey,
I'm glad you had a chance to review my chapter. It's a rather long book. I started it right at a year ago...wow, time has slipped by. I'm glad you like the concept. It's been fun!

So the war has begun, with Echo deciding to sacrifice herself to save the lives of many, a partially noble cause and mainly difficult resisting the compulsive drawing by Hades, it's getting serious now, whether Echo marries Hades or not, the people will supper, so they may as well fight. Well done Rhonda, great post, blessings Roy
