This is all at once playful and romantic and it shows your gentlemanly side too. She straddled your thighs and you allude to the rest but left it up to my imagination and I love it when a poem does that! Thanks for the pleasurable ride. You have done with a few words what authors do with novels extraordinaire.

Thank you so much my friend. This is a bit different for me, but this image of a tall hatted woman would not leave me alone. Thanks for a great review. Have a nice fourth would you? Lol

You too!
I will relax all day.
Try and do the same, Doug.

Unexpected story in a poem. I wonder, and maybe this is thinking too hard, if the hat got squashed in the "interlude," since the speaker said he had to regain his composure. Then again, maybe the woman liked to leave a memento behind. I kept thinking you were going to make a joke or reference about getting off the horse one more time at the end, but maybe it was a real horse in the poem. The knight in shining armor, and all that, or at least holding a shiny quarter.

Well that went to place I didn't expect! Very amusing....if randomly having unexpected fun with a mysterious hat lady person was that easy to come by I wonder what generation we would have lived in. Nice little fantasy story. I wonder whether she leaves the hat everytime! Costly I'd imagine...

Ha ha ha. Oh, I loved that. ?Costly, eh?? Yes I suppose so. The era could easily be argued. But he was riding a horse, ne cest pas?
N?est pas I believe is the
contraction, Not that I could swear to it. College french allowed me to negotiate quite nicely when I toured france. But, alas, the language has mostly left me. After all, I was married to a German for 23 years. Und was ich denke and sprecht is was ich war told. Lol

I learned a little French in school too! But not enjought to negotiate my way in or out or anything haha! Have a good day!

This is a delightful little poem, a tale of a pleasant encounter enjoyed by both subjects, a very nice presentation and accompanying artwork. I liked reading it. Nicely done!

This wasn't what I was expecting but I enjoyed. I'm not sure who got the better deal, the man or the woman? Perhaps the man since he got to keep the hat as a souvenir. The gentlemen certainly accommodated the lady well lol

This was a nice, whimsical little piece, I just loved the ending where she gives away the hat, as a souvenir of this encounter. You had a nice upbeat, tongue in cheek tone here that carried us along for the ride. estory

Hi Doug
This is a cute poem. She was a cheap date, only a quarter. Of course you were a gentleman. So yo also received a gift you could regift to another woman.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Have a great day

There have been a few occasions in my 80 plus years of life where I stumbled upon a carnal blessing or two. Those blessings turned into curses as I endlessly sought out more, only to be rebuffed time and again frustration claimed far too much of my time.

VICTORTOUCHE, this is such a quaint quirky poem. You are quite a gentleman to get off the horse and pick up the coin she had dropped. Love the transition of the story harping on the coin and ending up with the hat left behind.
Wonder if she was offering you a payment by giving you her hat? Wondering how much you would get for that at the flea market. =)
