A great piece of writing. Excellent use of the language and metaphors that really summed up the subject of the poem.
The second stanza rhyming was a bit shaky with 'reach' and 'appease', but other than that it was great.

The poem charts the course of ambition(later becoming greed) that goes from more to much more and more ...When the realisation comes it is too late ..i like the strong imagery especially (echoing the growl of want) greed being suggested as a growling animal...veery well done..

Your poem is complete in bringing to fore, the dangers and pains of greed. I really enjoy the read. The flow and rhymes are superb. Thanks for sharing your inspirations. Well done, dear Shanbreen.

Greed can often ruin us in many ways, both emotionally and financially. Your question, "how much is enough" is very poignant and I adored the sentiments, the rhymes and message here, love Dolly x

Hi, Shanbreen. I hope you are well

Excellent effort by you. I can see each phase in the process of his spiritual journey. He chooses the wrong way to go. He's given every chance to do the right thing but he does not bite

So, his soul will not go to heaven.

The last two lines don't rhyme. In case you care

I enjoyed your poem

Good job. Thank you for sharing.

Pam, thank you for your review and bringing to my attention that "claim" and "am" do not rhyme. I do care about the rhyme because it is a rhyming poem. If you have the time or the inclination, would you explain why they do not rhyme. I am definitely going to modify.

Hi. Shanbreen. We could check the British pronunciation. I think they are the same. Am is pronounced like ram whereas claim is pronounced like aim

BTW, I tried giving you a six, but it deemsI have already nominated you.

Oh yes, as the saying goes, the apple doesn't fall very far from the tree, and unless you want your children to be a reflection of your inadequacies, then you change, and chances are you'll want them to be a better version of you, which is what all parents should want. Beautifully written, and a camera to what the earth is reaping right now, well done superbly scribed, well done, blessings Roy

Philosophy is one of my favorite topics. I especially enjoy it when met with a poetic form. Having an explanation for the verses was a nice addition. That aspect makes it easier for someone to understand something written within a philosophical state.
