What True Heros those 911 Firefighters truly are and were I hope your dad was not affected by that toxic smoke from the fires he faced. Thank
you for having such courage too as a firefighters kid Blessings and Peace

This is a beautiful free verse tribute to your dad. I love how you use "light:
in different ways to describe him to describe him. Definitely not ordinary.
You are blessed for sure.

Much respect and kudos to your heroic firefighter dad!
As we all know, there's nothing 'ordinary' about their highly dangerous work. They just make it seem routine.
A very good poem of tribute to your selfless, brave and caring father.

What a beautiful tribute to your dad, the light of your life. He sounds like a man of integrity and dedication. A fine man of courage - worthy of being called a hero.

I enjoyed reading this lovely tribute to your father in free verse and with an endearing musical quality that enhanced your proud sentiments. I like your repetition of 'ordinary' woven throughout the poem but which actually emphasise the fact that, in his ordinariness, he is actually extraordinary to you, his daughter. Thank you for sharing, Jess. Take care Debbie

Jessica,
Your stellar poem is a nice tribute to the brave men and women who have our backs.
I've never talked to anyone who knew someone that close to this tragic event.
Your poem shows the pride you feel.
Good luck with all your writing.

A beautiful tribute to your dad Jessica. I never knew my dad and so I'm envious of those wonderful relationships between a father and daughter.
Very nicely done.

Oh, Jess, what a beautiful poem you have written for your dad. And why would I ever be surprised about you writing an amazing poem about your hero dad. Of course our heads were aligned even if we didn't talk about that.
How proud you must be of him for all he does and how proud he must be of you for writing your lovely poetry. I bet he will love it. I believe that my dad will see mine from Heaven. I have written one every year since I have been here.
My favorite part was, for I have known a sun that never fails to rise. Beautiful.
Is your dad the one sitting more to the front or behind that guy? Both very handsome either way. And, the whole last stanza. Actually it is all amazing, just like you are. Thanks for sharing with us. Love, Debi
And I forgot to tell you thanks for the dance in the poem of the month contest too. Makes no difference which one leads, we still dance. LOL. cheek to cheek haha!

Thank you for sharing this beautiful, poetic tribute to your father, a man who dedicated his life to his family and serving others. Your well-chosen words helps us understand the attributes of a real American hero.

Hi, Jessica
I'm not familiar with the song, but your words come through anyway. Your dad was your hero. He was a lot of other people's hero too.
I hope he didn't get lung cancer or some other disease from being in that rubble. A lot of firefighters and policeman did.
I like the way you use the word ordinary and then for your last stanza, you say he is anything but ordinary. And you're right.
My dad was a mathematician. Nothing exciting there.
I really enjoyed reading your poem
Good job. Thank you for sharing.
