This sounds like an interesting place to me, but I don't know anyone except my sister (the nurse) who would go with me. This is a very well written article, and should be published in travel magazines for people going to Australia. I would hope there is also a magazine about those best of the museums. As writers we need to know the enemies.

This definitely does sound like it deserves the "most disturbing museum" title. You went into great detail without overdoing it. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

Thank you Jessi. Yes, disturbing it is - and many would not like to visit, but other brave ones are not put off by what they would see within. I appreciate your very nice review.

I'd like to think I could make it through the entire museum but I doubt it. There is a museum very much like it in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Lots of body parts, illformed fetuses, diseased organs. A learning museum. But, I guess someone has to run one. Sad that these are real things that most likely killed real people. Very interesting piece, Wendy. As always, I feel like I've learned something from your writing. Gretchen

Yes, each one was the cause of death of someone. It started just as an educational facility for medical students. Many are interested by the history and science, some are confronted, and choose to make better informed lifestyle decisions. Interesting but disturbing as well. Many thanks for your super review. Always appreciated.

Hi, Wendy
Good luck in the club contest
Wow. I think I'd want to go to that museum. I remember when I had a complete hysterectomy, I asked if I could see the organs they took out, but I was all doped up and they wouldn't let me. So, I think I could handle this museum. But for physical disabilities, I think I could've been a doctor.
I'm going to donate my body to science. I have several things neurologically so I think they'd want my brain. I donate my heart. Everything they want I'd Like to see some organs close up.
I guess it takes the weirdo to like a weird museum or at least the concept of it
Well written story
I really enjoyed reading it
Good job. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks so much for this very positive review. I am glad you like this one. The museum was initial an education centre for medical students.

Sorry to come to this post so late! I loved the information! I think this weekend was so full of fascinating posts and I was at baseball games yesterday. It's hard to keep up.
But I LOVED your entry. What an important source of information this museum is!

I am so pleased you enjoyed it. Yes, I am finding it hard to keep up too. But it's important to have that quality time with your family - how are they all? Thanks so much for a lovely review.

They are good but life is hectic now with family events and church events and we're starting an ESL class as we have many immigrants in our area.

I feel I have visited this museum of horror after reading your post Wendy. If I was in Australia, I would definitely go. It is important that we look after our body in order to live a long and fruitful life and also combat the ravages of old age. Living a life without pain and with good quality, being mobile and able to move about without aching joints. There are so many factors we have to consider when living a good life.
I am glad this museum exists if it is encouraging people to change their lifestyle. You cannot argue with the reality of these ailments when they are this horrific. That cyst with hair and teeth sent a shiver down my spine! Thank you for sharing this important post Wendy, I wish I had a six for you as this post deserves one, love Dolly x

I sometimes wonder if the ones who don't need to go (because they do already care for their bodies) are the ones who would be the most interested in going, and the ones who should go might be a bit more reluctant. Hopefully it is serving a great purpose and is effective in achieving its goals. Thanks so much for a super review. I'm very appreciative of your positive comments.

Wendy, I heard about this Museum while working in the Philippines. While I've seen some disease exhibits in other museums, I've been told this was the most gruesome. I was scheduled for an assignment in Sydney, but unfortunately, it never materialized. I would like to visit this place.

Thank you, Thesis, for your very thoughtful review. The museum began as an education centre about diseases for medical students, and grew from there. Maybe you'll come one day; there are so many interesting and beautiful places here to visit.

Weird, I guess.
Well written. You describe it well. In fact, you should have entered this in the 'Describe a place' contest.
I'm flummoxed by parents wont vaccinate their children.
Best wishes,

Thanks so much, Wayne. I described a village on the lake (about which I wrote the poem) for that contest (third place) but you are right - this one was very different, and could have been a suitable entry. My husband was born in India, and had polio as a baby (during the polio epidemic), before there was a vaccine, so he's had life-long consequences. Vaccination would have prevented his polio had he been born a few years later. People don't realise how deadly some of these diseases are. Thanks so much for the review.

A visit to that museum sounds like a good idea. I would think that health insurance companies would benefit from creating one of these museums and have free admission.

Thanks so much Paul. Yes, or it could be a compulsory part of treatment for those with self-inflicted diseases, to encourage better and healthier lifestyle choices.

Wendy, This sounds like it is a very interesting museum. There are a few folks I would love to invite to take a look at some of that. I don't know if I could handle it. I don't smoke, thank the Lord for that. Thanks for sharing. Best wishes in the contest my friend! Teri

Thanks so much Teri! I haven't been there, I just researched it for the prompt, but I think I would find it both gross and fascinating. It started off as a teaching and learning display for medical students.
