You had me laughing with this one! I loved the dialogue. You did a brilliant job with this. It was a hard task to accomplish, but you did it without a problem.

This piece made me laugh. Writing in dialect is extremely difficult, and it's a tricky balance not to seem to mock people with limited English! I think you pulled it off. But first he says "Shoes," meaning he's willing to go in, and then immediately says he doesn't need it. Hmmm...The other thing that got me - and this is just pure prejudice - is that the word "bride" is used by husbands flattering their wives, and Veronica is no bride, so why would he narrator refer to her with that word? Another hmmm... for me.

Hahaha, I like this a lot. Talk about talking for cross purposes. Just goes to show how important language and accent can be. Well southern Europeans do think different from you American guys.lol I loved it. Ulla :)))

i always wear my cowboy hat. I had been to many NY baseball games before I became disabled, so I wanted there to be a contrast between her clothes and Giuseppe, so The Mets just came into mind, with their blue and orange colors.

Sorry to have made it a bit difficult. I felt either the pseudo-dialect or none at all would work and felt a total use of pseudo-dialect would be better.

Your story is cute, and just slightly insane--but, as that describes you perfectly as well, it's a perfect fit. I had fun reading your story (with appropriate mispronunciation). It made me laugh (and it only took me 10 minutes to unknot my tongue after reading it).
The name, "Watchmahoochio's Museo e scuola* of English You Wannah Speak Better" was inspired, and definitely made me smile.

Anyone who has ever met me would tell you that word does not apply to me.

Me neither. I only know of it for having read about it in books--and dictionaries. No one in my family has ever been accused of being "that word" either, so at least I come by my insanity naturally.

I really enjoyed this humorous short story once I became accustomed to the dialect. Giuseppe and Veronica's dialogue kept me smiling. Now, as for the video...I'll be singing What's a-matter You? for the rest of the evening. I shouldn't have watched it twice. Lol.

I was married to one for 31 years, and my family always spoke Italian when they didn't want little ears to hear.
