I love this poem. It's the little things in life bring us the most joy and family is the most important of all.
I've three daughters just one is adult and the other teens.
I haven't experienced long distance relationship with kids but reading this I can tell it can be difficult you miss them so much!
Well done and best of luck

I love your poem because it rhymes well but more relevant to me is that it reminds me of my daughter who lives in Chicago (I live in Pittsburgh) and calls everyday to say, "I love you guys (Mom and Dad)." Thank you for sharing, and best of luck for the contest.

Hi Willie,
I would get teary eyed in that situation too. It is good he calls you and not just texts to check on you.
Good luck in the contest
Keep writing and stay strong
Have a good rest of the day and week.

By the way I just got a book published called The Interloper (and other stories in prose and poetry), It is available on Amazon

-Very nice image and presentation, Willie.
-Your notes are appreciated.
-I am glad you have a great relationship
with your son and he looks after you.
-You wrote a very good poem about it,
with effective imagery and rhyme that
shows how much he means to you.
-Very well done; good luck in the contest.

Very sweet poem and I can relate to it. I usually check up on my dad who has health issues as well and being his only son it makes him feel so much better. Great poem.

A beautiful, touching 4 line poem. There is nothing sweeter than those words from our children. I'm glad your son stays in touch with you and offers this comfort.
Good lucking the contest.

Willie, This Four Line poem touched my heart as I read it. We have three sons and one lives in San Diego. I know that has to melt your heart my friend. Best wishes in the contest. Teri

I know I would shout for joy if I ever got that call. My son and have been estranged for 29 years and I dearly long to hear his voice.
You are blessed beyond measure.
Blessings
Janet.

I think in general (and I have no scientific info) boys do not feel comfortable saying "love you" to their fathers.
I say it to my boys at the end of our phone conversation and they reply with the same. I'll take it.
Well written and presented.
