Such beautiful little girls and I'm always sorry to hear about your sad loss and the heartbreak you still feel. But thank goodness, you made that call. I'm ashamed to say that I've not been in touch with my sister for a few months following a grievance of mine. And she was the one to suggest we talk and a date has been arranged. You skilfully incorporate so much emotion in this very limited format. Well done and good luck, Maria! Debbie xx

Hi Maria,
I knew you had a sister who had passed, but I didn't realize it was under circumstances where there were ill feelings. My son and daughter don't speak, and I keep reminding them both that the opportunity could disappear in a moment.
I'm sorry for this unfortunate piece of your life; of course, you have regrets. But you can make it up to her and yourself by continuing the relationship with her husband and children.
As far as this dribble goes, I believe it's meant to be fiction, as it's labeled dribble flash fiction. Occasionally they will ask for a true flash, but I believe they wanted fiction here. May disqualify you, but you never know on this site.
Be well:-)

I get on very well with my sister's family and that helps a lot as does the fact that our last conversation was completely normal, as if nothing had ever happened between us.
You may be right about the fiction thing, I didn't think about that.
Thanks for reading. xxx

Situations like this happen all the time, sometimes people have to cut out toxic family members from their life for their own well being and mental sanity.

Sometimes these things happen in life, but Heather, the good thing is that you listened to that inner voice and, had one more conversation with your sister. That is a cute photo of the two of you, a treasured one, I'm sure.
cheers,

Que bonita que eras. Un angelito. I still have my first communion photograph. For our Spanish celebration is like the Mexican "quince anĚ?era". I remember how happy I was dressing up.
I'm sorry about your little sister. My sister is 10 years older than me. We don't talk often. I feel guilty about it. We were very close as children but grew apart when I moved to America. Your story made me feel like I should call her.
Well done, Heather. Good luck with the contest.

Gracias, Marival. Maybe it would be a good idea to call your sister like you say.
Muchos besos,

This is an excellent entry for the Dribble Flash Fiction contest. I can't imagine the pain of losing my one and only sister. I hold on to the promise that we will see them again one day. Good luck in the contest.

We never know when that day will come for us that we will lose our loved ones and will live to regret not caring for them. I am sure there are people in my family who live to regret the fact that they didn't care for their siblings. Patricia .

We cared for each other deeply, but we made a stupid mistake. Fortunately we had the chance to speak one last time before she passed. x

It is good to hear that you got to speak with her one last time before she passed out.

This dribble, Regrets, has the proper word count and reminds us all that days end and we must try to make them all end well. So sorry you lost your sister. Blessings.

I immediately thought of the scripture, never let the sun set on your wrath, and so many do, and suffer loss, sometimes a lifetime of regret, but you're right, we come to the realisation that it too late to fix broken relationships, beautifully written Maria, blessings, Roy

Then I called her one day because I heard she'd been sick. I didn't know it was the last time I'd ever hear her voice.
So sad isn't it? You just never know.

If someone had told me my sister was going to pass away at the age of 48, I'd never believed them. Yes, it's very sad.
Thanks for reading.
