Hi, Mary. This looks like a good entry for the contest. Good luck with that.!

I get confused. Is God Christ. I thought Christ was Jesus. This just affects your notes. I did not see Jesus anywhere in your poem just in your notes

Still, I agree with you about how one can get to heaven. I am very new to Christianity. So, maybe I'm way off base.

Lovely poem. Lovely sentiment. My musings are my way of trying to understand not as a criticism at all. If you answer me, I'd appreciate it.

Thank you for sharing

    Dear Pamusart,
You are right in your musings and not off-base at all!
I really need to get back to that poem and add some scripture references in the Author Notes.
In our Christian faith (called "The Way" by many early Christians), God is One, but alive in three distinct but connected Persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. "For God so loved the world, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life." I rejoice with you, that you have taken this enormous step of faith! God BLESS you enormously. I would write more, but I'm on the way home from an appointment. Yes, Jesus is the Way to the Father! He is "the way, the truth and the life." Welcome to God?s family!
    Love, Mary Kay

Welcome back, Mary Kay. I'm in a rush as I'm leaving for class soon. So much to catch up.
Great use of your rhyming two lines to share the love of the Lord.
Best wishes in the contest!

    Hi Helen!
Thanks for your lovely and thoughtful review, and for welcoming me back.
Did you go back to school? Or are you teaching?
Life has been so overwhelming during these months that I've been gone from FanStory. Mom is now in a nursing home, and very unhappy there. She needs a lot of time and attention, while at the same time, it breaks my heart that she's so unhappy. Meanwhile, I'm dealing with multiple other issues -- really too much to describe!
But "God is our refuge and our strength..."
I wish writing would help me with my problems, but generally it's too personal to put on public display.
I just have to count my blessings and keep going, leaning on Our Lord.
    Love, Mary Kay

At least, you can just tell those you know will pray and even without details, we can lift you up. I was worried about that same thing so I am not pushing my mom to go to a nursing home yet. I hope she will make her decision to do that when it's time. I know it takes a long time to adjust the older we are so I'll pray that your mom will make a friend and that it will make a world of difference for her. 💖🙏🙏

Thanks Helen, for your compassionate reply. If we would have planned this better, we might have avoided this, but we didn't have the foresight to see it coming. It's unlikely that she'll make a friend there, since she ended up in a private room and she doesn't like to venture out of it. But of course, with God all things are possible!
I'm trying to figure out how best to communicate with my closest friends here, and how to share both the details of our challenges and the fact that while I made one entry, it may not substantially change my lack of greater involvement, because the demands of my current life are so intense. I have really missed my friends at FanStory and thought of you often.
You mentioned only your mother -- is your father still alive? I hope so. And I hope and pray for your parents to have the best outcome for their long-term care! 🙏

Oh, I can't remember when we last talked. My dad passed in December of 2022. My mom got so much more healthy after not having to care for him. But she really doesn't want to live with us or move to a nursing home yet. Hope your mom will venture out of her room. There has to be some game night or social event.💖🙏

Helen, I am so sorry to learn of your Dad's passing. You and your family -- and especially your mother -- must miss him so much.
Yes, I wouldn't be in a rush to move your mom into a nursing home. Most of them are really inadequate to care for our elders who need love, respect and compassion. If it weren't for my mother needing so much help, she could have stayed in her own home. My husband and I aren't really equipped to provide the care she needs, and our two-room apartment isn't really enough space, even for us (plus it's full of problems and issues). Yes, I wish my mother would venture out of her room! Rarely, she'll go out with me or my husband. Please pray for her that God's grace will prevail over the misery she now feels. I would like to visit her more than I do, but life is difficult in multiple ways. I will continue to turn to God for my strength, and His guidance in all things.

I think the misery is the grieving over independence. Each season of life requires some grieving and letting go. The people who age well know to do it quickly and stay socially active, thinking of others. Perhaps you can make a point to pray with her for the workers and residents there so she can look more outward than inward? Hugs and prayers!
