Dog gonnit! That's funny. I am allergic to animals, the outsides, not the insides. But I have seen the true love that exists between all animals and their human friends. If we could hear them talk! Karen

A lovely story. My dog Sunny is also terrified of both thunder and firecrackers. I have bought him a thunder vest, which seems to help a lot. Snow is very beautiful! I enjoyed your story about Cooper. Fine response to the prompt.

Thank you, Wendy. My son will take Snow into the basement where the sounds of the firecrackers are minimal and she seems to relax.
Thank you for reading.

This is a very sweet tribute to Cooper. As a proud momma of an 11year old collie, I could relate. She woofs and wags her tail in her sleep. It never occurred to me she could be singing! If so, it would be something much simpler, probably a nursery rhyme like Baa Baa black sheep...because she loves to chase my farm animals.
I enjoyed your story and picture.

Thank you, Dolly for stopping by.

People could learn a lot from Cooper...."watching and listening to his surroundings".
He sounds like a wonderful dog. I recently lost my ellie cat to cancer. We are all very sad in my home. She was very sweet. Is Cooper based on Snow?
Good luck!

Cooper is based on Snow, the male version as I needed a male for the song.
Thank you, Gypsy for reading.

Hi John, you have penned a feel-good story that made me smile from the first line to the very last work. Of special note:
There are two things that frighten the bejeezus out of Cooper; the outbreak of firecrackers on the Fourth of July and the sound of thunder, anytime of year.
(Most dogs don't like either of the above. They do get scared. Poor puppies.)
I love the Ricky Nelsen song, and your version of it is sweetly done.
Thanks for the YouTube. Well done; well told. Margaret

This was a delightful reading and listening experience. You gave enough description that I could easily envision Cooper enjoying a walk through the grass until thunder interrupted his peace. However, the words for Cooper's dream song was humorous and imaginative. I listened to Ricky Nelson and went back to read Cooper's song again. The words fit the rhythm perfectly.

Your Snow is lovely - I didn't know goldies came in that color!
And your story is sweet. I'm glad that Cooper had a good dream despite the the frightening thunder. I like how you changed all the lyrics to have dog breeds!

Inserting the lyrics to the song "Traveling Man" adds a touch of fun to their piece about a much loved pet. It shows us just how "human" he is. No wonder you love him.
