He's home, and he's safe ... but he is different. He 's been changed in many ways and their relationships will never be and can never be quite the same because his eyes have seen things no one should see, and he's endured what no one should have to endure. But so far so good. You've expressedthese realities in a very poignant way, and I think there will be more. And I feel that he will meet Artie. I hope the outcome will be positive. Because of the various attitudes of Heddi and Nonni, I really hope it will be positive!

There will be a collision course with several characters. No idea of the outcome. Thank you for this. Gretchen

This is a realistic and heartfelt homecoming filled with sentiments of regret and relief. Everyone is glad that Willis is home, on the other hand he is a scared man by war, physically and mentally. A talented post Gretchen, delivered with great care and feeling, love Dolly x x x

This is a beautifully told scene of a reunion. You've made the reader feel the variety of emotions in each of the characters. I haven't read any of the story that came before but had no trouble slipping right into it.
I have a couple suggestions for your consideration:

She **just** shakes like she's cold. For a few seconds she **just** stands there unable to move. Finally, she runs towards him, throwing her arms around him and **just**saying
(I would remove one or two of the 'just's)

I feel my feet moving and before I know it, I'm swept up
(...moving and, before I know it, I'm...)

Really lovely writing!
Julie

Great work. I terested in reading more. I had a Noni (spelled differently). Good luck! Was the section in the middle separated because you shortened it? I wondered if there was more to the dreaming and more about what Noni would sa to Willis...

Thank you for this. Your review was great and I value your feedback. I just had a small part in the middle that seemed out of place with the other sections. Thank you for the stellar rating. Gretchen

So, the son is home, and is noticeably older in appearance and demeanour, as one would expect, injured but mostly intact, that would be a wonderful
experience for parents, sister and brother, I love the way you've described the reunion of this returning soldier, I wonder if he'll meet the German boy in an OK Way, beautifully written Gretchen, blessings Roy

Hello, Gretchen!
Do you even realize what a talented writer you are?
This chapter gave me chills as you were able to hone in on the feelings and emotions of Heddy, her mother, and of course, Willis.
Such tender conversations.
Just beautiful...
My own son feels about our home = its sense of magic and beauty and grace - as does Willis. Morgan lives in Colorado, and will often call and request that I send photographs of certain places on our property... Pulls at my heartstrings; that is for certain...

Thank you for sharing another beautiful chapter, Gretchen!
Fondly,
diane

Diane, you have no idea how your review makes me feel. I always hit a certain point in my books where I start to have doubts. This week, it's all I've had. Thank you for this enthusiastic review. I so appreciate it. I sometimes just go to the beach down the road and take pictures, just to send to my sister. That must make you feel good that your son has his safe place and it's called home. Thank you. Gretchen
