The author's poem is filled with
wisdom, clear and creative. I thought about how important it is to ponder on what one hears. The poem flows and connects with a
great message! Great Poem!

I don't know if my mind doesn't function as well (well, maybe I know and don't want to admit it) or if people are just better at telling their lives. I want to believe everyone is truthful, but I know they aren't. Good one, Beth.

Thank you, Carol. I wish everyone was truthful but I'm heard so many lies, it is hard for me believe anything, especially if it is someone I don't know on the phone. I just assume they calling to rip me off.

The ability to discern the truth would be an invaluable tool to acquire for use in one's relationships and encounters with others.
Knowing when someone is lying, as most people these days seem to be want to do, would ease a lot of needless situations.
Strong internal rhymes include learn/discern, instill/skill, and recognize/lies.

Yes, Beth, those are words of wisdom if I've ever come across it. I simply loved this 5-7-5 poem about wisdom. It's a great poem for the contest. All the best of luck. Ulla xcx

We can certainly do this, but it takes so much effort these days to find the truth. It used to be that journalists told us the truth, and so did politicians for the most part. Now I don't take anything at face value; unfortunately, many won't take the time to dig into these lies.
A nice entry for this contest; good luck.

Thank you Pam, I agree that it does take time to dig out the truth but hopefully we won't pass along information that could well be lies.

-The syllable count is good, along with the topic.
-Effective imagery and internal rhyme in line one.
-You have a very good message about the
importance of recognizing the truth to be
able to distinguish that from lies.
-Good luck in the contest.

This is quite profound, Beth. Discerning the truth often just requires using a systematic method of verification, but recognizing a lie is much more difficult because there is motivation involved. You have to be able to detect whether a false statement is false simply because it proves to be wrong or if the teller knew it was wrong and had an agenda for stating the falsehood.
Too many people these days equivalence the two and claim that every falsehood is a lie. People blame others for lying, when in reality they may have just made a mistake. Unless you can accurately recognize a motivation for stating a falsehood, it's best not to accuse someone of lying.

Thank you Bobby Jo. It isn't easy making sure you have gotten the facts straight with so many people passing on false information.

I think this should be the motto for teachers and parents today so that we can "instill the greater skill" to recognize lies, conspiracies, and even AI-created illusions. It's getting so difficult now!
Great message! Best wishes in the contest!

Thank you Helen, Yes with AI in the mix it is becoming harder than ever to tell truth from lies. We need to teach young people who to research and learn the difference between truth and lies.
