So relatable, Joan!
Gardening is my life outside of writing and grandchildren.
And with two TKRs, well, I can certainly relate to "suffering brings life."
We life on a wild and wooly acre of possibilities that is filled with rambling hillsides.
This morning, I spent the majority of my time outside trimming hydrangeas, and in my head, I could hear my beloved husband saying "Let 'er rip, Di," as he knows I am more than a bit tentative of hilly slopes! Too funny!
Much enjoyed!
Thank you for sharing!
Happy planting!

Thanks for reading and reviewing, Diane.
Sounds like a great place for I garden I dream about but can never have because is seems I have the polar opposite of a green thumb.

This is an appropriate poem for me to read today because we are also gardening and weeding. Weeds are something we all have in common, and we do work hard to eliminate them. This is well written and is very relatable with a good photo.
Best wishes,
Alex

Oh, I love your satori -- indeed, pain does bring life, and not just when we garden, either!!!
As for weeding, I hate it, and probably couldn't do it very effectively anymore. (Lol)

I'm glad you are in the garden. I enjoy planting and watering but weeding is my least favorite thing to do. Hope you are taking good care of those knees and back! You reminded me I should be checking on my veggies...

Thanks for the review, Helen. It is much appreciated.
That picture is not of me. I am not a gardener. So far everything I tried to grow has died. But I do weed around our trees and shrubs.
My husband does all the planting if we have to replace bushes.
Glad I reminded you to look at your veggies.
I don't think anyone likes weeding.

Excellent haiku, I like the juxtaposition of the pain of weeding brings life to your garden. Beautiful presentation, is that you?ð???
this weeks challenge is to use a season and write it in the subtitle
for your haiku I would use spring or summer
example:
haiku (weeding never ends) = summer haiku (weeding never ends)

Thanks, MariVal. And the answer to your question is a resounding, No. I am not a gardener. I have tried but I have far from a green thumb. It seems everything I plant dies.

Then you're doing it wrong which or not be your fault depending on if you are married for my days of weeding came to an end when I procured a wife.

Hi Tom,
I am that wife. I don't hurt afterwards. I do stretching exercises in between sections of my weeding.

My Myra Marie goes to hoe soon after the sun arises. Me, I am already typing away reviews and foolish pennings a hour before the Sun comes forth.

I think this is the first poem I have read about weeding. I like your last line "suffering brings life". It is a true line that speaks to the reader. We do learn from suffering and life can arise from it. Excellent poem that fits your picture perfectly.

You seem to be suggesting that weeding promotes growth of weeds. I would go along with that. It's one of those areas where the dictum 'no pain, no gain' doesn't seem to be true. Your Haiku is thought-provoking. kay
