That is lovely, meaningful and encouraging. I think it' what we all want and need, as sense that we are accepted, valued, and loved. Best wishes for your entry in the contest.

I appreciate the review, Wendy and the understanding of the message I was trying to say. We never know how others are really feeling and it would be nice if people reached out more often. Thank you!

This is such a good point. We also don't realize the way we touch people. We might not think of it as 'much,' but to the person on the receiving end (good OR bad!) it might be a tremendously big deal.

My one question, though, is the "Peyton" reference in the description line above the title. Had you originally wanted to name your character Peyton, then changed it to "Chance?" Otherwise, I don't know who Peyton is .

Good luck in the contest!! xo

Thank you for catching that for me. Yes, he was going to be Peyton until I realized I use the play on the name Chance. Appreciate the review and the catch. Thank you.

This is an original idea with a great lesson: tell your friends while they are still with you of their value and worth to you.
The post-death POV is nicely done.

Thanks so much, Julie. I saw a quote about not crying at my grave and saying I love you or I am sorry...do it when I am still here.

Nowdays, many people don't have a very good view of themselves and it's sad that people don't share their thoughts before.... There's a quote I read about "don't stand at my grave and say I love you....tell me now.

I like how you used his name in the title and the last sentence. It's rather sad that it wasn't until the funeral that he finally realized his worth. He could have done more had he realized what he meant to others. But maybe his story is more common. Best wishes in the contest!

I believe it is common among people not to know what they mean to others, especially among the younger people. When I was younger we always told our relatives how much they meant to us, but now I rarely hear even a hello or goodbye and thank you has definitely disappeared. I appreciate you and your support very much.

I really loved this, Carol! We are having a Celabration of Ian's life on Friday, and his friends are coming from all over England. I've been amazed, yet not surprised at how many lives Ian touched. It will be an emotional time for me, I hope I can keep myself together as I meet his friends. I loved him so much.

Your flash fiction story has given me the hope that Ian will hear and know how much people loved him. Thank you for writing this. Good luck in the contest! :)) Sandra xxx

Without a doubt, I believe he will be there with you and all those who come to the Celebration. I don't believe in ghosts but I do believe that those we love are always with us in some way. I know things happen and I can't explain them in any other way. My thoughts and love will be with you on Friday ..... maybe someday a miracle will happen and we will get to meet face to face. Wouldn't that be grand?
    Love you, my dear friend.

I love this 75 words flash fiction for the contest. Your interpretation of death is very unique and inspirational. The hole idea of attending his won funeral is very creative. I think you will be one of the winners.

Excellent.

This is a good flash. It is too bad that we don't do and say the things while a person is living that we might say and think, as we are putting them in the ground. We need to remember there are those suffering from low self-esteem that would that could benefit with some encouragment.

thank you, Beth.... that was exactly the message I hoped to give in this flash story. We often try and when we fail, we think it is our fault and think we don't do things right. You are right....people should be more open, letting others know how important they are to them.

This is very well written and I enjoyed the essence of the story. I think all too often we get so overly concerned about what others think of us that we miss out on the joys of life. I enjoyed your story very much. Have a good day and may God bless. Patricia .

Thanks again, Patricia. I am glad that you understood the meaning behind the story. We often don't give ourselves credit for who we really are and when bad things happen we think it's because of us. I appreciate your kindness.
