Hmph... what are they to do till dinner time? I heard the fishing was good at Kalamazoo Lake. Could that be it?

Minor point-
Is it champing at the bit or chomping at the bit?

Good chapter, moving everything along nicely.

The jury is still out on Warren, so we'll see.

Enjoy your weekend.
John

Thanks, John. I think he brought the chess board with him for some afternoon delight.

The original expression which came from what horses do is "champing," but "chomping" is also used by some.

Ooh, what a romantic you are, Jim! Remind me, what were they there to do?:)) As ever, your story flows along skilfully with pace and interest. I like the way you remind the reader of the time periods which is always important for me to know. And, though you break in the middle to switch scenes, this is all done without any disruption to the narrative. Well done! Take care Debbie

    Thanks very much, Debbiel.

So far, people have suggested fishing and Parcheesi. I thought maybe chess for fun.

Well, it seems David's life is progressing and at this point in the story he has found love and gotten engaged. I would reconsider, telling us he would propose marriage in the middle of the chapter. It spoils the rest or the ending, as we know Ginnie will say yes.

Also, an employee who accumulates gambling debts is a bad sign.

That's a good point about not giving away the surprise. I'll think about rewriting that part.

Good instincts about the gambling debt.

I am pretty sure Tommy will be happy with this new arrangement. I can't imagine he wouldn't be. I enjoyed reading this post. Of course, I'm a romantic at heart.

The next night, after dinner, (The following night)

last sentence/ paragraph three. Even knowing you want to complete it what is it you are speaking of here, the [prototype (has three t's)] or the larger tool???
And what was it you had come to do? Aaah. It took a second to clear the numbers {A Double Shot of Demented Love - have you read it? Only fair since I read yours} from my mind. Congratulations!

I guess the third t must be silent like the p in pterodactyl, thus making it ptrototype?

Haven't read A DS of DL yet but I will today.

And what would that be? A Parcheesi marathon?
I'm surprised that Warren made it five months without issue, especially with the tease you gave about his interest in Alan's secret project.
Best wishes.

Big smiley face here! Good one.

I guess Warren's been doing okay at the poker table. His actions seem to be governed by his fate there. I'll say this much: He's going to start losing soon.

Money problems plus access - a bad equation.
