Jim, This is a very well written story. I was hoping he and Molly would make things right and start a new life together, but that is just me. Thank you for sharing and best wishes in the contest my friend. Teri

A well written and intriguing story that had me captivated from the start. I enjoyed the fast paced but easy to follow story and the tragic ending, was great that they got a bit of time together and a romantic picnic before it all fell apart.

Wonderful drama, Jim! At one point (apart from the gender difference), sounding a bit 'Thelma and Louise!' Your characters are excellently portrayed and, in no time, the reader warms to them and wills them on to achieve the great escape. But, sadly, not to be. This is a fine story with excellent dialogue and pace, keeping me enthralled throughout. Well done! Debbie

I wish I had a six left for this post. It's excellent. Yes, we owe our lives to one who was innocent. Great job.
She said, We don't have all that time. We'll skip to Sunday. We'll have a Sunday kind of love." ("We don't)

This is a very interesting idiom I really wonder what the origin of it is I probably should look it up: "I'm in enough trouble now. Don't need to borrow any more. I'm down near Brattleboro Vermont. I hail from north of that called Rutland Vermont. I see what part of Vermont are you referring to. Well ' played This pans out like a movie: "I tried to push my way to the elevator. The tourists all shrieked and gawked, running out of my path."

Thank you so much for your kind words! I spent some happy times in Rutland during one of my many college years "road trips!" My friend and I used to stay at a decaying old hotel, the Hotel Bardwell.
-
They've made the Bardwell into some kind of like a senior housing now.
-
Wow! Someone who actually knows of The Bardwell! I could tell you stories...But I better not!
-
gallows laugh... lol fodder for new chapters
-
The only cheaper place I ever stayed at was in Philadelphia. It was $7 a night as I recall. I can't tell you about that, either!
-
LOL

Warm smiles back

Many thanks!

I really enjoyed this story Jim and can understand why it didn't have a happy ending. Well written and it moved along well. I'm unsure what the notes mean but, a good read.

Thank you so much for your kind words! By the notes, I meant Jesus took my blame and died for me, as the character took someone else's blame.

Hi Jim, this is not only a great story, but a fast moving as well. Two people on the run for a crime they never committed and they're paying the highest price. Ulla:)))

It's strange how circumstances can change people, Jim, as in this case. Two people on the run for things they never did. Yet their bond was so strong, they were there for each other. Then everything went pear-shaped. Molly is killed and soon after he was caught and thrown in jail. It was weird when I first started reading your story, my son's name is Phil, and his wife is Molly, niether are murderers or theives, not that I knoiw of, anyway!! Lol.
This was a really good story with lots of twists and turns, and a very sad ending. Well done, I really enjoyed reading it. Warmest hugs, Sandra xx

Jim, I liked the "owe my life to the One who took the blame for me." Two little things...threw her bag over one shoulder (lose the s). And eye needs to be plural. The story was arresting. Rhonda would have loved it. Esther

Fast moving. Hard hitting. A memorable short story filled with raw emotion. Coincidence makes strange bedfellows and your story shows what a strong bond can form between two people in straightened circumstances.
