Hello Rachelle,
thanks so much for the encouraging review gal. I'm so glad you enjoyed this. My friend, the postmaster was such a wealth of information. I wish he were here in this town. He didn't fit the normal standard for a post master. He used to bring baked goods for the customers to enjoy, and when the town lost it's library, set up a used book exchange right on the counter. If I mentioned someone's name from town, he knew their post office box without even looking. He was Mensa material, very intelligent, but a little insecure. We invited him to our family's Christmas, and he started crying. In his thirty plus years, he'd never celebrated Christmas with his family. He was a neat guy.
Have a blessed day gal.

Oh, wow! You forged quite a connection with him!! Did you share this story?

No, I've never done a story about Mark, but I might in the future. He is endlessly entertaining. Thanks for the idea.

Sure!!

I found this very interesting. When my father was alive, he collected stmps. I did for awhile growing up and used to hunt the post office whenever a new stamp would appear. I even had birthday parties where stamps were the presents.

Hello Jim,
that's pretty neat that you received stamps for birthday presents. I've gotten them for Christmas. They're great for the person who has everything. I'm always fascinated by the diverse subjects and colors. I was born in 1952, and my oldest daughter got me a shadow box filled with the stamps that came out in that year.
Have a blessed day. Happy Easter!

I'm one year older than you! When I was a kid, there were stamp shops around and offers in magazines, but no more.

We come from a time when collecting things were considered hobbies. I collect vinyl albums and play them on my turntable. It's the best of both worlds and brings so much enjoyment too. If you enjoy somety, that the benefit. Sending you my best today as always.

Hello Sally,
I wish I had the 33's that we had when Jan and I were married. In 1972, when we moved to the farm in Alaska, there was no electricity at the time, and we had to take just the essentials that we thought we'd need. Plus we were towing a trailer with a Pinto through the Great Smokey Mountains, as well as the Rockies, so we couldn't pack much more if we had wanted to.
Happy Easter to you my friend.
Blessings,
Tom

Fascinating! My dad collected stamps, and I like to buy the interesting ones, as you do. I don't often get a chance to use them now but I still have some books of them. I generally go for the ones with birds and butterflies on them.

Hello Sallyo,
thanks so much for the great review. There are so many great stamps for sale. The local post office only carries the flags or at Christmas, some holiday stamps, so if I want other designs, I have to either go on line at the USPS store, or one of the stamp brokers. I try not to do that too much, because like a little kid, I want them all.
Have a blessed day, and Happy Easter.

That stamp of the lunar eclipse that was heat activated - I've never heard of that, but it's so cool!
Tom, we don't buy many stamps - we pay electronically - but the next time we do buy them, I will be sure to ask "what else do you have?"
I can't imagine that someone will not want your collection - it would be a pleasure just to look at the collection.
Is that a picture of your own collection? It looks like family pictures.
A really interesting look at stamps and your understandable fascination with them.
I'd keep that part about being a "philatelist" under my hat though:-)
Happy Easter, my friend.

Hello Pam,
what a delightful review gal, thanks so much. No, I got the picture from Fan Story, but it could have been from my collection. When I first got started, I think the post office came out with an Arctic Tundra scene. It had birds, and a wolf, caribou, I think a Grizzly Bear, and a number of other things that made up the whole picture. You could peel off the animals because they were the stamps, but I couldn't stand to do that, so I hung on to it and bought other stamps to send my bills out with. I have stamps depicting coral reefs, flowers, endangered species, replica's of the most expensive stamp in the world, the upside down Jenny airplane, wild and scenic rivers, national parks, WPA posters, the 150th anniversary of the transcontinental railroad, lighthouses, fish (of course), Tyrannosaurus Rex, WWI, honoring first responders, fruit and vegetables, state and county fairs, Hot Wheels cars, Flannery O'Connor, that's just in the first few pages of one book. I could go on and on, but you get the idea. It's like having an art museum in my home.
I appreciate you keeping my secret gal, I don't want to get a worse reputation than I already have.
Have a wonderful Easter gal. God bless and keep you.

That sounds like quite a collection and a lot of fun to collect. Enjoy!

I'm sure it's not anymore expensive that paying for golf membership, At least you have something nice to look at, and the joy of finding one you hadn't seen before must be a fabulous feeling. And, I'm sure they must be a good talking point when someone asks about them. Let's hope they do get picked up by the next generation when you leave for the next world. I enjoyed reading about your stamps. :)) Sandra xx

Hello Sandra,
thanks so much for the fine review gal. Fortunately, I don't golf. I've embarrassed myself at the driving range once or twice, and that was enough for me. I did commercial fish for 45 years, but in theory, I was making money doing that. The fear is that whoever gets the stamps won't cherish them like I do, but there won't be much I can do about it one way or another.
Have a blessed Easter.

I did have a stamp collection at one time, but I have no idea what happened to it, unfortunately. My mother probably threw it out when I left home. If you would like a few Aussie stamps, PM me your address and I'll see what I can find. I enjoyed your piece, and o, you don't need to worry about being called a philatelist.

Hello Wendy,
thanks so much for the fine review gal. I'll send along my address when I get done answering these reviews. That's so generous, thank you! It's too bad you don't have your collection anymore, it might be worth something, and if nothing else, it's a conversation piece.
Happy Easter gal.

I had a small collection of stamps that I gave to the charity shop last year, it was just collecting dust, so I let it go.
If you lived in the UK you would be unable to pay your bills by cheque, it just does not happen now and it is all processed by Direct Debit. Every company has you to ransom. The South Staffs Water Board just take amounts out of the account that make no sense and I have wrangled with them over it for years and even reported them to the regulators. When I am not in my property for months, they still take money out of my account because they only read the metre once a year. It is disgusting, I am often in credit with them. My hands are tied and you wait on the phone for ages to speak to someone. It all makes you want to live on the street without responsibilities (just kidding).
I enjoyed your snippet of life here Tom, love Dolly x x x

Hello Dolly,
I fear that what you've mentioned may become the future for us as well. The powers that be seem to be intent on making us a cashless society. The excuse they want to use is that drug dealers only deal in cash and they want to control that. I think the bottom line is much more sinister, they want to control every aspect of our lives. Thanks for the informative review gal.
Happy Easter!

This is a great article about your interest in collecting stamps and going about paying bills the old fashioned way ... with a cheque.
I did enjoy your humour here: "Go hang out with your pervert friends, you philatelist!"
That might be mistake some make. lol
Much enjoyed and many thanks for sharing. :)

Hello Gloria,
thanks so much for the generous review gal. When I hear the word philatelist, it brings to mind phallic symbol or some such thing. To the best of my knowledge, there are no stamps with anything near that, or might have to stop collecting.
Happy Easter gal!

I might have figured you for a stamp or coin collector. I had a huge coin collection that I split up between my children. And my stamp collection I kept because I didn't think anyone else would appreciate it as much as me. But then someone broke in and stole mine, so now I don't guess I have to worry about them anymore. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

Holy cats Ric!
That's terrible about someone stealing your collection. I keep mine in my gun safe, now that I have one. I collect a little silver too, mainly one ounce coins or rounds. I picked up some rounds from Golden State Mint that showed crossed AR-15's with bullets all around the rim with the saying- Come and get them! My boys will appreciate the rounds, assuming I don't need to sell them to buy bread.
Happy Easter my friend.
