David/Alan's invention is starting to get it's own legs. He has a lot of things getting ready to start up. I can't wait to read more.

or not they can be fitted together in an arrangement like the one I've envisioned. (can fit together is smoother)

I pictured a hands-on class where the students would try things out on their own in class (out can be omitted)

Thanks, Barbara. This is an exciting time for him as he gets to work on a new invention at the same time he is able to get back into teaching.

Thanks very much for those two corrections which I've made.

This is another excellent chapter. There is a lot happening in the story. I look forward to seeing if your invention is feasible. I do not see any need for I'mprovement. Have a blessed day.

Thanks very much, Lee. The path to success of this invention will not be an easy one.

Are you feeling okay? It's seems to have been a few days for this release.
Anyway, I see your working your way to a big announcement, as the patent is applied for. Good luck.

Just fine, thanks. The road to this patent will not be a smooth one. Lots of potholes and detours to muck things up.

Nicely written.
It'd be nice to live in Alan's world (lately), where the taters are always hot and the ice tea is always cold. Or is it 'iced' tea?
My first computer class would be totally consumed by glitches, both electronic and man (boy) induced.
Best wishes.

I think it's "iced," just like "whipped" cream instead of "whip."

My very first computer class was an elective I took in college: Fortran. It was terrible, and I hated it. The teacher was the worst explainer in the world and spent at least half of every class BS'ing about non-related stuff. I was studying landscape architecture at the time and after that class, I never would have dreamed that within 8 years and several detours down wrong roads, this would become my profession for life.

So, what got me on the right track? Buying a book and teaching myself programming in the language Microsoft BASIC (as you might have guessed.)

Fortran, COBAL, and BASIC. College in '72. I never used any of it.

So the invention in which Alan hopes to heal the problems of dyslexia, and of course Tommy is his Guinea pig. I could imagine, that would make someone incredibly rich, like the Golf suit, oh no, you're rich already, and now....? Well done, blessings

Just like the path of the golf suit, this one will encounter a variety of problems. We'll have to wait and see if he ever cashes in on it.

BASIC! That brings back memories!
Normally, I'd advise caution in having a character repeat information already given to the reader, but it serves well here to underscore the importance of Alan's idea.
Another good chapter. Keep 'em rolling!

Except for one 10-week elective in college in Fortran where I learned almost nothing, BASIC was really my first programming language, and I taught it to myself by reading a book. Through the years, BASIC made many transformations, and pretty near the end of my career, I wrote some fairly sophisticated web-based accounting programs using Visual Basic.

Hello,
What a fascinating story you've created. I love all of your characters and each has their own personalities. I enjoyed this all the way through. I have no suggestions to change or fix at all. I can't wait to read more of your writing soon. Thanks for sharing. Best of luck

Thank you very much, Heidi. I'm so glad you found this story. I post a chapter about every 3 days. We're at the halfway point of the story, so there's still plenty more to come. I hope you continue with it.

In the first half, Alan was a high school science teacher who was accused of sexual assault against a student and forced to resign. Months later, with his reputation ruined, the girl confessed that it was all a lie, but in the meantime, he had remade his life in another town and became a successful electronics repair store owner. He meets a dyslexic kid who lives next store and his attractive single mother. Alan is also dyslexic, and the second half of the book deals with dyslexia and his efforts to combat it.

Sounds exciting! And I'm so glad that Alan invited Ida's grandson. With the four kids signed up for Alan's experimental class, this would be the start of fabulous careers for them.
I also like how Alan and Ginnie and Tommy are really interacting like a family now.

Thanks, Helen. This part is meant to reawaken Alan's love for teaching. Perhaps soon they will make this family dynamic permanent?

Great. He is certainly a very creative thinker. Not only with his invention but in being able to creatively engage the young people in interesting ways that will help them to have self-esteem, confidence, and new skills. And I like that Alan is not bitter about what happened to him as a teacher before. Very well written, as always.
Wendy.

Thanks for your perceptive review, Wendy. Alan proves to be a fighter after all and refuses to let one setback ruin his life. But he also hasn't let that one experience dissuade him from teaching--his true passion--and he's doing his best to keep his hand in it.
