This is another excellent chapter. You shared a lot of informative information, which I appreciate. I do not see the need for improvement. Have a blessed day.

Thanks, Lee. People have wondered why I bring up the cat so much in this story. This was the main reason why.

Oh wow, another invention of yours (I'm crediting it to you because it's going to happen back in 1986). Well, this was unexpected because I was already feeling unsure about how much further the plot could go (other than marriage and adoption:)) How well you've made everything tie up so beautifully, right down to the rose-coloured glasses and Archie's contribution! All I ask is that your science doesn't go too far over my head:)) Take care Debbie

Yes, this will dominate much of Part 2 (but don't rule out marriage and adoption too!) Only a few more paragraphs of science spoken by two nerds, which isn't really meant for full understanding, but more for demonstrating their bona-fides. They can be skimmed over without losing anything.

There has been a lot of headway in the inventions to help dyslectic people. there still needs to be more research as in many disabilities. Thank you for highlighting this.

I got Archie in until the trick-or-treaters were done and latched his door so he couldn't go out on his own. (We always keep put cats in on Halloween, too.)

Who knows, maybe there will one day be an operation to fix it or to reprogram the genes which cause it?

We always brought our cats in too.

Neat chapter. There is no telling where and idea might come from, but it is likely someone else may have already thought of it as you found out. I have thought of things before and found, they already exist. It looks like Tommy is doing much better in school.

Thanks, Beth. Yeah, it's easy enough to come up with an idea, but another thing entirely if you can turn it into a reality. That's why you can't patent an idea, only an actual invention.

I wonder if Allen will solve that huge problem that dyslexia holds over its victims by solving the problem that Tommy has, I loved this post, your style is really quite distinctive Jim, well done, blessings Roy

Thanks so much, Roy. That's a lot of what Part 2 will deal with.

As far as the style goes, I just draw on a lot of my own life experiences. I've always loved buzzing cats' bellies!

Well written. Good job.
I'm thinking that for the business to be successful enough to count the till, Alan would be burning a lot of midnight of actually doing most of the repair work.
Hmmm. 1986? You may have to have Alan do some traveling to a big city Radio Shack.

I like the way you think. He'll be hiring an assistant very soon when the work gets overwhelming for him as the popularity of his store grows. Yeah, he may make some trips to Radio Shack, but he will have to invent some of the components for his glasses because they need to be small. He's got lots of parts catalogs, though. Not to worry.

Maybe he should pick an item, or type of product, to retail for revenue and customer expansion (electric trains, miniature radios, top quality food processors, electric harmonica , whatever)

He may in the future. I think he'll be developing a taste for inventing. This could lead to some sequels!

Authors must have a vivid imagination ...Cromemco Cyclops ... really ...
so I goggled it to behold it is real. What a peculiar looking box that led to my owning 5 D-style Nikon's, my favorite being my D-300.
And you must have had your dream come true and retired healthy, wealthy and adored.

Yeah, but I couldn't have conceived of that name in a million years.

Don'tcha love the names for things? In college, I took a class in dendrology which is the study of trees. We had to learn to identify a whole bunch of trees just by their looks (leaves, bark, and shit) and one of them was the Dawn Redwood. We had to know their scientific names too. It turns out the Dawn Redwood is the only species within the genus Metasequoia, so they could have named it anything they wanted, such as Metasequoia Dawnus. But you know what they named it? Metasequoia Glyptostroboides. Now there's a botanist with a sense of humor!

How amazing that you thought it up yourself, without knowing of the device. You must be a genius! I was so glad to hear that Tommy had made an excellent comeback in the classroom situation. Wonderful that Alan taught him that as it will be great for Tommy's self esteem. Very well written. Always an enjoyable read.

Thanks so much, Wendy. Anyone can think up a crazy idea; after all, Al Gore invented the internet, don't you know? But making it happen is another thing entirely. That's why you can't patent an idea, only the actual thing.

I was a little disappointed, though, to find out it actually had been invented!
