If it is up to me, you just won the contest hands down. Your ability to deliver authentic conversation with word choice and accent is remarkable and was a delight to read. Well done! I don't have six stars, but would give you a seven.

An awesome entry for the Dialogue Only Writing Contest. This was so much fun to read. I wasn't sure if the twang writing would ruin it for me or not but it actually made it believeable. This was humorous and charming. I feel like Rufus and Lyle could be found right now sitting in the local park feeding those ducks and thinking up names! Very well written. Good luck.

Thank you Marilyn. I've known people who act and talk like these two guys. I'm glad the twang didn't ruin in for you.

LOL I couldn't help but laugh at these two, Rufus and Lyle. Their dialogue sounded completely natural for two ornery old farts. I have known gentlemen like this. I enjoyed reading this contest entry and good luck with the contest.

This story, Feeding the Ducks, sounds like the habit of feeding ducks might well lead to a free-roam duck meat opportunity that feeds both the boys bank accounts and the happy public.

Love this dialogue only story. It reminds me of two men who meet at the dog park every day and sit on the bench while the dogs run and play. One doesn't have a dog to take to the park so he borrows one from his neighbor. They talk politics and religion, they're nice but I steer clear of those topics with them. I'm thinking you might have a winner with this one.

Nice work. Dialogue is a toughy for me. All dialogue! The horror! People tell me to try since there are no need for tags. I am mainly a narrator, that is my comfort zone. Good writing here. Karen :-)

I really enjoyed the gentle humor, the commentary on conditions today, and the obvious friendship of these two old guys partaking in their daily routine, Beth. It's nice to have a friend to share your experiences with and joke around with. Have you written about these old guys before?

Thank you Jim. I have used them a couple of times before. Someone brought the picture to a writing club I was in for us to make a story. I found them interesting. I appreciate the review.

Beth.
This is perfect and I'm sure the contest winner.

The dialogue is spot on and felt like I was sitting on the next bench beside them. The story is 100% believable as well.

Phew, well done!

Very well written. Totally engaging, with what sounded to my Aussie ears as authentic speech patterns, and humoorous exchanges between the two. I enjoyed the final suggestion, a super twist. Best wishes for the contest.

An inventive and fun conversation between these two elderly men struggling with the cost of living and thinking of ways to make more money! Feeding the ducks is always a generous act and I buy the proper duck feed for them as bread is no good for the ducks, a fun post Beth, I love the inventive language and I reckon this is a winner for the contest, love Dolly x
