What an amazing post! How someone could see that something so simple as a piece of bread could become the security blanket that allowed them to overcome the fear and terrors they've faced. Beautifully written. Thank you for sharing.

This desire to have enough tomorrow is something even animals share. One of our dogs takes a treat to bed. She guards it all night and snarls at anyone who comes near her. Come morning she eats it.
Interesting piece of non-f that made me think about this matter in a different way.

Hi William,
I know it's sad for children to be afraid to sleep and that something as basic as giving them a piece of bread can give them the security they need to sleep. I'm glad a solution was found for them. "Give us this day our daily bread..."
Take care,
and thanks for sharing,
Rhonda

Thanks for your review, Rhonda. The key to this Behavior Modification tool and to get them to begin to trust that the bread means that every day there will be food. -Bill

We are lucky in life if we have never experienced hunger, and having enough food to eat is something that many of us take for granted. This sounds like a clever solution for these children to ensure their anxiety about hunger did not stop them from gaining a good night's sleep. I enjoyed this sweet natured story, love Dolly x

What an amazing post and insight into the world of these poor, war-torn children. I would never have guessed that the fear of waking up hungry was enough to stop them sleeping. And how simple it was to treat that phobia. Your visual is of the sweetest child and perfectly complements your faultless story. Thank you so much, William, for sharing this very memorable and poignant story. Take care Debbie

I've been a part of FS for a long time but I'm not as active as I used to be. Feel free to review my profile. I am currently swamped with promoting two of my last five books, A New Way to Hope and Teachable Moments. This has caused me to step
away from FS. Thank you for your review, Pat. You have reviewed several of my pieces and always with such grace. -Bill

This makes a lot of sense, hunger pains are horrible to experience, and one does not forget the feeling, especially when we need to eat three times a day,

What a great story and a very wise man that doctor was to have figured out what would help the children. Those of us living witha grocery store on every corner and money to buy what we need will never know what these innocents go through. I did see one tiny typo that i will point out for you to fix. (pscychologist) Thank you for sharing this.
