1983. I was an 8th grader. High School grad in ??? '87. Father, veteran and RETIREE???. At fifty-five? Or sooner? Wow. That's impressive Paco. Few folks accomplish such a feat, even the great, I AM, lasted on the job until
9/2006. I was fifty-eight. It was a joy.
Anyhow, I meander. The one thing I add to say is Congratulations on #500.

Thanks, Tom. I retired at 50. I do work one day a week doing private security for a wealthy famous person. Ahhh, the hard life. Ha!

Living through an abusive husband myself I know the feelings. You told those stories well. So, Paco, Is their a special reason you love frogs? I like the rain forest ones. I pat you one the head, and give you a bone deep hug, to the little boy who needs it. :-) Karen

Frogs are the canary ice in the mine. When the environment gets too polluted they die. They are a harbinger of doom. Besides, if you kiss me I become a prince . . . Or maybe just a really happy frog. Either way, I win!

I like frogs to look at. I have a file full of them. I can send you the file if you want. probably has 50 or so amazon frogs.

Paco is what Doug could not be - stable, a long-lasting finisher. I know Paco was not in all 500 posts, but he stuck it out and graduated. Congratulations, Paco.

Congratulations on post 500!
I do not know Paco Since I started here after Paco's last visit, but makes me want to go back and dig through the files and find Paco! Thank you for sharing that time in your life of upheaval, with this bright, shiny spot inadvertently given to you by Mrs. Harris.
In my 8th grade Spanish, Miss Labanaris made us use the Spanish forms of our names. I was Julia. But one boy in the class, Scott, didn't have a translation to Spanish. So she dubbed him Pepe. Same deal as you, he became the cool kid because of that name!
I enjoyed your biographical piece. Julie :-)

Thank you Julie. Just a peek into the many levels of nonsense going on in my brain. D

Glad I caught this one, Douglas. Congratulations on your 500th post. Quite an accomplishment.
Your explanation of the recurrence of Paco in your stories is heartwarming. Sometimes, it is the smallest thread that saves us. Keep him alive! All good wishes, Tony

Isn't it amazing what one random gesture can do to save us? My heart hurts that your childhood was so difficult.
Being "on the run" is traumatic enough!
The loss of stability in school, inability to keep or maintain friends and bullying is too often the price paid for fleeing abuse.
"Paco" was a blessing bestowed on you by an unlikely angel named Mrs. Harris.
I love that "he" gave you some school "cred" and I'm honored you chose to share your secret!
I wish I could convey what a cool kid you are... You write with such skill and review with such respect...
Vive Paco!
To quote an old Dylan song:
"Ah, but I was so much older then
I'm younger than that now..."
Wish I had a six!
You rock.

Your words are a seven star and mean more than any six my friend.
My siblings and I always say ?we survived childhood?.
I hold no anger against the kids because they were kids and had no idea what we were suffering.
Great Dylan quote by the way.
Glad I?m not the only one up!
