This story does a great job of evoking junk food nostalgia. I think it's super clever that you have multiple meta sandwiches going on. The poem begins and ends with happy vibes, symbolizing Wonderbread on the top and bottom of a sandwich. The bolded text in the middle of the sandwich represents the middle, the turning point, the less than wonderful things. And the beautiful symmetry of age is also captured in the sandwich: going from childhood bliss into adulthood, only to become a child once more in old age.
Originally, I almost passed up this poem because I usually view lack of punctuation as laziness. But I'm glad I read it. It was a great poem, and I think that the lack of punctuation is actually fitting for this format, as it doesn't distract from the other elements.

Love this, the way you have described the changing times through bread, the line with "bird food" brought back many memories for me, and yes, now so many varieties, apparently all have different ways to make us healthier****kahpot

Yes, we sometimes had Wonder Bread on our family table. I used to like the cheerful polka dot wrapper. Please check spelling of 'simpler.' It's interesting how something like bread can remind one of the happiness and simplicity of childhood. Carol

Yes, wonder bread was supposed to sustain through the wonder years. Pepperidge Farm is my bread of choice. Yes, multigrain is supposed to be best for you, but I like white. My problem with bread is that most have the large slices. If I want a sandwich, I eat only one slice, but it's still the equivelent to two in calories. Go ahead and eat your Wonder Bread. You can get your nutrition somewhere. I like the memory you enoke. White bread with peanut butter! judi

Yes, I still like white bread and I too, only consume one sandwich slice because they are so large. I also like grilled cheese on white bread. Thanks for reading and enjoying. Elaine

I read once a month at an open mic. There is a theme every month and one month the theme was "wonder". All I could think of was the bread " Wonderbread" I consumed growing up. Thanks for reading and enjoying. Elaine
