I remember when kids would spend the whole day playing outside, now we have the tranger danger... we have to know where our kids are.
I love collecting shells and pebbles at the beach. When I was younger I took my kids to the beach all the time. The west coast has beautiful beaches.
I like the story very much. Who doesn't like a ghost story lol. But it's not a scary ghost, it's a loving grandmother spirit...what a lovely idea.
She is a precocious girl.
I feel bad for Lester.
Well done, I can't wait for the next one.

Lester is a lesson for Heddy. Every time she starts to feel sorry for herself, Lester's situation shows things could be far worse. Thank you so much for this great review and the extra star. Gretchen

I love your stories. For some reason this one sort of reminds me of "To Kill a Mockingbird " which is one of my favorites. All of your storied I've read are different but they are all good.

I let the character take the reins. I write whatever they tell me to write. Lol. Thank you for this. Gretchen

This is a delightful story which is so enjoyable to pick up and read. Nolly is a lovely girl, sometimes too bright for her own good but always very respectful, listening to her Nonni. She's very bothered by the war and the fact that people are hurting each other in the name of their country which seems bizarre to her. Some small edits: I'll have to (be) nice to him; Who wants you (to) hurt someone?; I walk (away) back to my house. Thanks for sharing, Gretchen. Take care Debbie

Oh yes, Australia was the same, our country is too large to invade and hold, as was the US, But I spent the first few years of my life there, there were lots of bombs in the mid part, two houses.near us were flattened, I like the fact that Nonni turned, like my grandchildren need the Nannie, beautifully written, blessings Roy

Very nice progress.
I didn't see a thing to point to for correction (or consideration of correction) smiley face here
I expect most kids would love the prospect of someone to play with, but not Heddy.
Best wishes.

Heddy is a wonderful character. I'm glad you posted this part of the story. I am wondering how she will do with Lester. That should be some interesting reading. So, Artie is hiding so he doesn't have to go to war. Interesting.
