Wow, that was all quite an education for your reader, let alone Tommy! The bonding continues with the young apprentice and it's clear his confidence is increasing. To throw in those similar-sounding names is, of course, a clever way to facilitate an enjoyment of words rather than a fear. "No sooner had she gone, (than) I said to Tommy." Another excellent and enjoyable chapter. Well done, Jim! Debbie

That will be the last technical description for a while. A lot of the stuff he works on is too complicated to try to explain no less understand in the first place!

I got confused myself using those three words, and caught myself while editing it. Yikes!

Thanks for the great catch, Debbie.

well written, of course.
Now we're talkin'... cash in the till.
In my mobile home park, as well as the laundromat, the capacitor was always the first guess, that is, after a quick viewing of the wiring for a more obvious problem.
Best wishes.

Thanks, Wayne. Sounds like I know what I'm talking about, right? I didn't know a capacitor from a cattle prod and had to look up everything on the internet! You learn a lot writing a novel.

Well worth my last six of the week! The detail is as good as an online course on repairing electrical items. What makes it sing is the way Alan patiently explains every step to Tommy. I had to smile at the microferrets!
It looks as if it won't take long before Alan is swamped by the amount of work coming in. Your sparing use of malapropisms is effective without being overwhelming.

Thanks very much, Tony, for that review and the 6 stars. Yeah, little tiny baby ferrets. You have to watch your fingers when handling them. Very sharp teeth!

I've always loved malappropriatisms. But you're right; you should be spraying in their use.

To start offf a business even if you think that you could be rather good at what your tackling, apart from being trained in these highly versatile pursuit of excellence, my brother was clever enough to do it in handyman, you would swear he was trained a number of occupational expertise, well written Jim, blessings Roy

I know next to nothing about electronics and would have to consult YouTube videos for any kind of repair. Fortunately for Alan, he has another skill besides teaching to fall back on.

Alan and Tommy seem to be having a good time together and Tommy is soaking up new information like a dry sponge. Alan is happy to have a reason to see Ginnie as he can tell her how much Tommy is learning.

It seems that things are working out smoothly and well. Which is good, but i bit disconcerting as you are still in the early stages - so something will go wrong very soon. Life is never smooth.
Well written.
Wendy

Thanks, Wendy. You might call this the calm before the storm. In fact two storms coming soon!

Nice lead-in. Do you have an electronics background. I cannot get further than the on switch. I may have told you I became a weather person in the service because my test scores, according to the recruiter at boot camp as to designators, said anything electronic or mechanical was out for fear I'd sink a ship; however, he said I aced the math and English, and since Aerography is a science, he thought it be a good fit. I enjoyed it, especially after making several All-Navy basketball teams that had me t.a.d. for
4-6months twice.

No electronics background whatsoever. My brother is an electrical engineer, but I know next to nothing about the subject. Fortunately, there is the internet.

Did you ever think about going into weather forecasting after the service?
reply by Tom Horonzy on 16-Feb-2024
No, but I forecast for my family! And often feel more accurate than tv-types which I don't believe do their own forecasting ut take what the National Weather Service releases as gospel. I often ask why stations have 3-4-5 forecasters with six-figure salaries being spokespeople, and as in our area with three televising outlets (meaning 9-12-15 forecasters, they don't congeal into one unit, take the 7 levels of atmospheric maps likely available and do what they were taught to do in university.
