In my own life, i have found that the very best discipline I ever received from my mom, who was my main motivator. Was she implanted life lessons so deeply within my consciousness that before doing anything that might get me in trouble, my hand was at least delayed by my hearing her voice in my head. My imagining what she might say kept me out of jail and out of many dicey situations.

Hi,
This is a quick but effective poem about fighting temptation. Drag racing is a very dangerous one. It is good that he thinks of his Dad's reaction to him getting arrested but bad that the danger to his life doesn't weight in his decision.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Have a wonderful rest of the week.
Good luck in the contest.

Oh wow! You passed up on an opportunity to grab an easy temptation, saving the hard discipline for the ones more difficult? Man! If I thought I had the hotter car... Dad would have gotten over it, eventually. 'Specially if I won!

I enjoyed this poem. Temptation comes in all forms. I like that you use the car. The picture is perfect for the poem. Great job well written. Racing was done in my days too.

Oh yes, that is a sure temptation, and not only for young people. I'm not sure why, but the desire to be first off the mark is a big deal. A fun poem, well presented. Best wishes for your entry.

Being a girlie girl, I never had a fascination with vehicles. So, I do not understand their power over men and boys. I have never thought to myself, gee, of only that guy over there had an Infinity he would be perfect. Nope, he'd just be a jerk with a good car.

I grew up in that era but we were Low Riders in Camaros and GTO's or Riviera's Funny and a truly different temptation experience that is surprisingly refreshing to read and rate really well written and enjoyable. Good Luck in this Contest

Thank you. Had a 427c.i. 2 four barrels Ford in 1970. Today 2024 5.0 Mustang. The car on the left in picture is my 2022 Challenger, I did beat the Charger.

I completely forgot to add Fords I also had a 63 Falcon wagon with a straight six that ran like the wind LOL

This poem brings back memories of yesteryear riding in an Austin-Healey sports car with my boyfriend. EVERYONE at every intersection wanted to race. I hated him to take someone up on it when I was in the car. You captured the scene and the feeling. Well done. Best wishes in the contest.

I would say that your poem suits the contest "Temptation Poetry" perfectly.
What teenager wouldn't want to take on a cherry top (maybe showing my age with 'cherry top)
The cadence was spot on as was the rhymes.
Best of luck in the contest.
Cheers,
John
