I have heard discussions that family members need to set up a code word. When you get a call and the person identifies themselves as a lived one, you ask what the word is. If they don't answer or say there's no time, you hang up and call the person back. Usually the person will answer and have no clue. AI is terrifying. Great piece. Gretchen

Do not like anything about AI. A code word could be a good route to travel. Appreciate your comments and the review.

Excellent rant! Like so much technology, maybe all technology, there's a beneficial use and then there's the twisted use. I have to have a landline because of my business, and I haven't answered it in years. I just return the calls of the legitimate messages. Opting out has never stopped them.
Well-written, timely article. Julie

Opting out does not appear to be much of an opt. At least, does not seem very effective. Appreciate your comments and the review.

This is a serious problem here. My wife came across a land phone that screens all incoming calls. This saved us from a lot of those call. I am glad something is being done about it. Good informative information. Thank you.

A phone like your wife found may be helpful in screening unwanted spam calls indeed. Appreciate your comments and the review.

We'll see if they actually stop, I am betting they will not it will be like many things in our country right. It depends on the source on whether will be stopped or not. Thank you for sharing this with us.
