Wish it were six! Thanks so much for telling me so much about Bob Marley I never knew. At the beginning of last year, I didn't know if I would live and wanted to write and finish something so I wrote a play (worst one ever written!) and "Three Little Birds" was a running joke in it. Thank you for this very informative piece!

This is a wonderful tribute poem to Bob Marley, the man, the musician and the spreader of words of peace and love. He was and is someone the word will never forget. Great research and writing Debbie.
Cheers

That was truly remarkable. I am glad I saved a six star review for something truly worthy. For an English writer to capture Bob Marley's essence in such a touching way is elevating. Bravo on a magnificent piece of poetry/art.

This was a wonderful poetic biography of Bob Marley and his music, Debbie. So well written and informative, and I loved the sound of the AABB format for this heptameter poem. (There's a surprise!)

I confess, I didn't listen to much music in the 70s when he was especially popular, so I didn't recognize any of the song titles you mentioned. But I listened to the video you provided and a few others, and enjoyed his sound very much.

As always, your thorough research led to a very compelling biography of a true artist who brought pleasure to many. He was a man of strong principles (except for marital fidelity, which is a shame), and his life was far too short. His legacy certainly lives on, though, for who hasn't heard of Bob Marley. Very well done and I look forward to seeing his biopic. - Jim

Thank you so much, Jim, for this kind review and your supportive comments! Yes, a whole lot easier, I think, with the AABB format. I do tend to make things hard for myself:) Thank you again for that suggestion. Take care Debbie

Another wonderfully done biographical poem. I look forward to these, and always enjoy reading them. They are always educational and emotional.

Thank you so much for your kind review and thoughts! I'm delighted that you enjoy them and that they're emotional because I always worry their format might get a bit predictable. Mind you, I loved this guy by the end:)) Take care Debbie

Ciao !

He put reggae music on the map. I can see why he was considered a threat like Martin Luther King who wanted to inspire the people.

I didn't know much about the singer. I remember reading in the newspaper that he went to Germany in the hope of a new cure but it was too late.

No Woman, No Cry, Trench Town Rock and Redemption Song are my favourites.

I learned a lot of details from your poem and notes and I hope to see the film on his life once it is streaming ( I went to the cinema the last time in 1982 as a teen, biggrin)

Ciao! Thank you so much for your kind review and informed thoughts, greatly appreciated! I realised that I was still living in the dark ages when I asked my son if he was going to the "pictures." He knew what I meant though:)) Take care Debbie

A gem of a poem. The research you have obviously done has resulted in a true tribute to a legend. His influence was much wider than many think. I was in Vanuatu a few years ago and Marley was the man. In buses, bars and just generally his music was played. Your notes are great but in many ways not needed. Well done.

Thank you so much, Barry for this wonderful review and your kind and informed thoughts. I must admit I had to look up Vanuatu which sounds very exotic. He seems to be an icon in so many places doesn't he? I read that he's honoured in restaurants, hotels etc right across India. He seems to have struck quite a universal chord but Jamaica would never hear of him being any other than their own. Thanks again, Debbie

Yes, he was very influential wherever he went. Have a good day.

"A Prince of Wails, so honoured as he lay in regal State,
lives on with us, his struggle for love's triumph over hate."

Okay, so my morning reviewing is beginning with tears -- how I loved this man's music and his 'cause'! Married to a Jamaican, I spent a lot of time there, and I think of the island country with great fondness. Even more so, the warmth and caring of (most) of its people.

I miss it, and Bob Marley was a perfect example of living one's life free yet with a social conscience.

This is a superb tribute.

Thank you so much, Deborah, for this wonderful review! And you, married to a Jamaican, I must hear more. How lovely that you still have such warm memories of the country and what an amazing experience! I've only been to Antigua and that was a holiday of a lifetime. Your thoughts and kind review mean a lot to me. Debbie

Thanks again for another great biography of a famous singer. I know Bob Marley but didn't recognize all those song titles so you taught me more and now I want to watch the movie about him.
