What a touching poem about your friend, Joy. To find someone in a chair, expired, when you least expect makes it even harder. You'll always remember this experience in your life.

Thank you Rosemary. It was a shock. She was seldom sick and except for the last few day had seemed fine. I miss her.

What a wonderful tribute, and yet I hope that it was not you and yours that discovered Joy asleep. As for the second verse, it seems for sure God felt as you that she should stay in wonderland.

Thank you Tom. Yes it was my daughter and I who found her there. We could see her through the window but we had to call someone to break into the house.

Oh wow, I have chills all over me! What a story, really about closure. I'm sorry for you and her family's loss, but at least she never had to leave her home in the mountains.
Take care,
Rhonda

Thank you Rhonda. She had always said when her time came she wanted to go like that. She didn't want to move so she got her wish.

Better than a long lingering death, for sure!

Beth. You've given your best friend a poem she'll read from above with tears in her eyes.
Hmph, I wonder if angels tear?
I am sorry for your loss.
Stay strong.

Now that is a shock, of all the times to pass away one would think that was the last one would expect, but I'm really sorry that you had to witness that, it's really tragic, beautifully written Beth, blessings Roy

This is such a tender, poignant verse, Beth, and I have to confess I shed a tear! I can tell that your heart is poured into it and I'm so sorry for your loss. Often, although we know these events are round the corner, the reality is so hard to bear, especially when you have this great connection from the past. House moves and changes like this can be very disruptive and can knock people off balance in their lives. Bless her for her quiet passing. She was lucky to have a friend like you. Take care Debbie

A very moving and poignant piece, written from the heart. Perhaps her death was beautiful and peaceful, what we would all hope for, a relatively gentle passing. Even so the grief remains, and you have captured that juxtaposition very well.

A sad and touching poem and tribute here Beth, I am so sorry for your loss. Your friend was obviously very tired and also very sick. You handled this delicate situation with finesse here with your talented pen.
one small edit here:
(How do (you) close a chapter which began)

Thank you Dolly. I miss her but I'm not grieving because I feel like if she'd had the choice she would have rather have not gone through with the move and to die it that way was aways the way she wanted to go.

Love your honest emotions...
This is the perfect free verse, so full of life's unexpected losses.
She lives on in your memory, in this poem, and did read the above is a photo she took?
What photography!
One edit, I think:
"How do your close a chapter which began..."
(Your/you?)
Your muse is wonderfully active!

Thank you Karenina. My muse is moody. Some days she'd more active than others. Joy has been on my mind lately and I feel bad that her daughter called and had her cremated and they've never had a memorial for her. It doesn't feel right. It was like there was no closure.

Oh, my. There seems to be a trend...
My siste rin laws father paddes and they had him cremated. Two months later (when it was convenient for everyone not to have to adjust their summer vacations)--they had a memorial mass. That was closure delayed and even that felt disrespectful.
