How blessed you are; never could have children. This is a genuinely written poem for the love of a child. A special babe born of love, what was the tiny stick you referred to? Love, Kay xx

Thank you so much, Kay! The tiny stick was the pregnancy test. Xoxo

How wonderful! Some parents have impressions made of the baby's tiny feet. I like your idea.

This is a moving piece that articulates all these emotions of motherhood. I thought the rhythms of the verse moved like gentle waves over the page, gently rocking like a cradle. The images of the embroidered baby's blanket, the delicate laced curtains, speak of the fragility of life, and the commitment to keeping it safe in these fragile moments. Then you speak of how it carries on, over the years. Nobody loves you like your mother. estory

What a lovely tribute to a child who has obviously brought much joy. I personally feel there is nothing more beautiful or fulfilling than to nurse my baby in my arms. An unbreakable bond is formed for life - laced tightly by the love in both hearts.

I enjoyed reading how you stitched together these beautiful memories of your child and the love that was there even before she was born. And she expresses her love for you in that handmade card at age three! Lovely lacey memories!

I will never have the experience of bearing another life inside me, but I know something of parenting, and this resonated with me deeply. There truly are no words to describe that terrible, beautiful, all-encompassing love. But this poem comes close.

This is an excellent piece of writing. I think there is nothing more powerful then the love between a parent and their child and you highlight this so well in your writing. I really enjoyed it.

Oh my goodness!
This is so very touching, Jess. A beautiful piece from the heart, and you allowed us to watch your child grow with a nurturing love from her mother.
We are lucky to have such a blessing and blessings in our lives, and for this, I adore this piece. Best, JohnC

Not a writer or student of poetry, I rarely take time out to read. But every great once in a while, I try to enjoy a few poems and hope the rhythm and rhymes will stick. Thanks for sharing your sweet poem, but don't forget, those little gremlins grow up. :-)

I appreciate the transition between each stanza from one milestone to the next and how the lace changes in different objects. I've had multiple children and have a large keep sake box for all of them,
