Good morning Beth from rather chilly Spain....
Excellent 8 words or less poem... And yours is exactly 8 words... so perfect..
And, the thoughts in this poem are perfect as well,

Shouldn't it be "are" instead of "is" ? Good work, just checking. Send out this notice to everyone you can. Jesse James Doty is going under the knife at 1pm Monday. The operation is on his neck. Dangerous. Please encourage others to pray or send good wishes if you can. They are trying to strengthen his neck so he will have less pain. Pass this along please. You can copy this and add it to you messages. Karen

Thank you Karen. Turn it around and it would read 'deception is cleverly worked facts interlaced with lies'. deception are wouldn't sound right. I might be wrong but I rather use 'is" Thanks for the review.

You are right, of course. It was just my first impression. I hope you tell evryoone you know about Jesse'sn operation. It is a dicey one. Karen

Exactly. Anything added to or subtracted from truth makes it no longer true. The inclusion of facts makes it difficult to discern where the person has moved on a tangent away from truth. That is the ultimate deception. Well done to make your eight words rhyme as well as being tbought-provoking. Maybe a winner. Best wishes.

Thank you Wendy. I like poems to rhyme. Sugar coating lies with a little truth does may the lie go away. It only contaminate what truth is there. I appreciate the review.
Comment from Daylily
Much of the world today appears to place no value whatsoever on truth. Added to the list of disappearing character-attributes are trust, and loyalty. It is a sad world we are now living in.
There is hope, however. Many people still care about each other and go out of their way to be honest and, also, to offer help in difficult situations.
I think this is an excellent entry in the 8-word poem contest!

Thank you for pointing out there are still caring people that try to be honest but your are correct that many people think nothing of lying and others are willing to blindly accept the lies and alternative truth.

Your right words carefully chosen speaks volumes based on today's day and age. With the internet and social media, lies are transmitted in milli-seconds. People have the ability now to hide behind it as well, never having to reveal themselves.
Excellent post, Beth.

Thank you for an excellent review. It is very discouraging to see people you assumed had some degree of common sense buying to things they could do a little research and prove are lies. You are right the hide and never suffer any conquences.

A wonderful 8 word poem. You delivered a powerful message and made it rhyme. My hats off to you! I love it when someone can create beauty with words. I know that's what we're all doing here, but every once in a while, someone does it in a very short poem!
Take care,
Rhonda

I was a huge fan of the show, The X-Files, and one of the characters, known as Deep Throat, once said something to the extent that if you planted a lie between two truths it became believable. That's what reading your poem reminded me of, and it makes perfect sense. I like the phrase "deception in disguise". The liars are masters at this deceit.
Nicely done - good luck.

Thank you Pam, I didn't see that show but it makes sense. If there some known truth we tend to want to believe it. It does sound like what I'm trying to say. I'm glad you liked it.

Your choice of subject for this contest serves well for an 8-word entry. Secieptful people always try to con you into believing them, disguising their true intentions to get their way. It's too bad they don't have "LIAR" tattooed across their foreheads.

Thank you for the nice review. It is getting to the point some of us don't trust anything we hear and others swallow it all without questioning.
Comment from Wayne Fowler
Excellent!
You have nailed them. I just wish it was literally, not figuratively.
And these days, they don't even care if they're caught in an outright lie, or being duplicitous.
Best wishes.

I wish there was some way to litterally nail them. The problem there are people willing to be lied too. They say, we have no choice because everyone lies.

Thank you Lea. I'm glad you liked this. Yes, there are people who are very gifted at figureing out ways to make other believe their lies. I'm sure you know all about that.
