Isn't that just like human nature? Suffer someone every imaginable indignity, then when they are dead, give them an award. Thank you for so eloquently summing up the life of an individual so unknown to so many. She deserves your fine words, but deserved more recognition and honor while alive.

I thoroughly agree. I had never heard of her and I feel like I should have. is it because she was a woman, I wonder?

A good question. History often is rewritten and certain parts are easily "forgotten".

Unfortunately, I don't see much change in people, just a few (very few) controls on them. The political parties have flip-flopped, but those who would wantonly lynch haven't changed very much in their hearts.

Wow what a great addition she was to the world in the times she was born in. Some people seem to have that extra bravery needed to fight for a better life and Ida was certainly one of them. Thanks for sharing her story in this Historical figures challenge, and good luck in the contest. Cheers
