Did you mean the littel island called Sicilly Gretchen? This sounds like a wonderful evening Gretchen, I have been to a few good Italian restaurants in Italy and the food is great, but always high calorie! How wonderful that your boss paid for the meal, I enjoyed your story Gretchen, your work is always so well presented, love Dolly x

Thanks, Dolly. I'm glad you liked it. It was a nice surprise to receive the news that we were free to go. Fat, happy and still had cash in my wallet. Gretchen

Thank you for sharing the second part of your Hallmark Christmas. I've been watching a Hallmark Christmas movie every night since the beginning of November, except for Friday nights. It's our date night and when my family was home for Thanksgiving. Last nights was really good and I actually clapped my hands at the end. My husband is starting to question my sanity. LOL

Some of them are really good. I love God Winks. That's one of my favorites. Enjoy your movies. Thank you for this. Gretchen

Actually I love Mexican food as long as they don't ruin it with Cilantro? I don't even know how to spell it. I hate the stuff. I like Italian. I used to eat in such a place in my youth when I worked at a huge department store in Springfield, Illinois. Delicious Chicken Giblets and Noodles. Yummy! Lots of atmosphere but not too pricy for a working girl. LOL Loved the story. How cool of your Boss to do that for you and your spouse. Merry Christmas. Nancy:)

Thanks, Nancy. I'm glad you enjoyed this. I like Mexican as long as there is no Cilantro or spices peppers. Gretchen

I enjoyed your story and you made my mouth water thinking about fried ravioli, a favorite. But like you, I'm more of an Asian food fan. Sounds like it was a great dinner and a good time. But, I'm a little shocked that a real Italian restaurant serves olive oil for bread dipping, which is an American thing. Italians don't offer spice oil for dipping. It's sort of a no no. But who cares, I love hot bread and spiced oil. :-) Thanks for sharing.

When in Rome ... or with the bread thing, when in America, let them dip. Thanks for this. Gretchen

Santa Claus, I think. He's not very grammatical! Another lovely piece of writing in this series. things like that never happen to me. Did you wonder if you should have ordered a more expensive dish? Lol. x

I didn't know what half of them were so ravioli was safest. Thank you for this. Gretchen

You tell 'em so well, Gretchen! Loved this Christmasy offering, another one from your Hallmark collection but never sounding saccharine or sentimental. Your boss is a keeper and he obviously loves you. But is this instead of a works party? Small edit: night is repeated twice in 4th para 2nd and 3rd lines. Excellent! Thanks for sharing, Debbie

Thanks so much, Debbie. He never does a party. He gives us a Christmas bonus. He's just a nice guy. Gretchen

Wow! You are having a Hallmark Christmas. This is such a neat Idea and something I wish I thought of years ago when my husband was still alive.
I love Italian and Asian and even Indian food. It would be hard for me to choose a favorite.

Thanks so much. Wish you lived closer. We could hit a nice little restaurant for the Christmas season. Gretchen

Hallmarky, alright. But nice. And well written.
I wonder how a waiting list would work? They have a cancellation and call you to get there quick? Or you sit outside and if someone is ten minutes late they come get you?
Best wishes.

They will let you wait for the first available table. But dinner is very leisurely there. Never less than an hour to dine. We got lucky. Gretchen

So we have a new Mediterranean island! The one kicked into the sea by long-legged Italy can be found in the index under S rather than C.
But that is the only fault I could find in this pleasant little foodie piece which was almost as good to read as the dinner described must have been to eat.

Auto correct panked me. Probably thought I was referring to a character I used to write about. Lol. I'll get on that. Gretchen

I have a feeling I skipped the first Hallmark date. I will go back and check. What a nice treat for your boss to pay for your dinner. Now let me see what I missed.
