This could have been written about my oldest daughter. She is a true social butterfly. Everyone knows her and loves her. I loved the imagery as the butterfly and how it morphs into a real person. Great poem. Gretchen

What a very clever way to tie in a coining of a phrase MariVal!
I have known more than my fair share of these wonderful creatures in my day... I love a social butterfly. They brighten my experience.
I think it may be because I am always the guy that cover his bases, set himself up with the best vantage points to gauge his surrounds, always on alert. always watching and enjoying from a distance.
I don't require small talk, yet recently I have developed a more engaging manor, I guy who loves different and interesting.... hmmm, go figure?
But how did this become about me? Hmmm, it's your wicca woman magic... you paint your scene, place it into action with the thoughts and memories triggers and Voilà , a short beautifully presented Haiku injects itself into a deeper realm to allow it to become a memory, a story... something visual and visceral.
Beautiful craft, most beautiful Haiku!
With our thoughts we create...
associated memories.

"wicca woman magic" I love it. My daughter is a Wiccan white witch... earth magic. I'm not Wiccan but I believe in the interfaith follower. I choose and adopt the religion things that resonate with me. I do celebrate Wiccan mother nature celebrations with my daughter, Micaela. They are fun.
I'm an introverted person so not a social butterfly. I'm more of a fly on the wall. LoL that sounds wrong but I think you know what I mean. However, if someone approaches me, I can engage into a meaningful conversation. I like 'people watching' people are so interesting... I specially like eclictic people, and sometimes the insane. Sometimes I stop and talk to homeless people... most have great tales. My favorite are poets, like you.

An excellent play on words and very apt comparison. As the butterfly continues to move from one flower to another, a social butterfly finds fun, happiness and enrichment from constant interactions with friends. Beautiful.

This haiku works for me, Gypsy, in a nice way. Butterflies have always represented the spirit of a loved one, and seeing this warmed my heart. The first line: Flutters carefree ... now he can, his foot had been amputated, and the toes on his other foot. Ian is fluttering around whole and carefree! Around the summer party... of course there will be a party to welcome him home. Social butterfly... has come to tell me he's safe.
I know this isn't what your haiku means, but that's what I saw as I read it. Just beautiful, and reassuring. :)) Sandra xxx

Dear, Sandra, one of the beauty of haiku it's that it means different things to different people. I'm happy this poem works for you and brought positive thoughts about Ian. I believe the spirit never dies, it just changes form. He lives in your heart and in God. No more suffering. We are so much more than a body we live in to experience life on earth.
