One of my friends has Jack Russell Terriers. They are highly energetic dogs and are deeply attached to their humans. I have always loved the Heelers and Australian cattle dogs myself. I can feel your love for dogs in every word you write. It's a lovely photo of Jack Russell.

Thank you very much. Yes, often they are energetic but somehow these two are very placid when "on duty" and fall asleep while being petted. At home, Minnie was a bit of an escape artist, but since Evie?s arrival has settled - maybe she now has that special friend she was looking for. Thank you very much for a very nice review. Much appreciated.

This adventure for Evie is a fascinating tale of interactions between these dogs and their sense of duty towards each other in this special place and these conditions. So neat.

Wendy, you have written a beautiful story portraying the special gifts these dogs possess and share with those in need, both human and canine. My autistic grandson has a service dog, a loving Labrador named Bullseye, who was a game-changer for Michael. I really enjoyed this piece.

Yes, such dogs are life-transforming, so it is good that Michael has one to help him navigate life in all its complexities and understand his needs.
My dog is being trained to cope with being touched and petted by sometimes dozens of people in a short space of time. It's emotionally draining for all the dogs and they all fall asleep after their session. They all are highly intelligent and emotionally sensitive and intuitive, whether meeting specific needs of one person or many. Many thanks for your lovely review - I am glad you enjoyed it.

This is very moving and so beautifully written to capture the animals' concern for a distressed member of 'the group'. Most of us have become removed from our tribal connections. Now the cult of individuality rules supreme. The situation in this story is a wonderful example of instinctive compassion between animals that we can all learn from.

Thank you so much for this wonderful review and the gift of six very special stars. I agree - we humans seem to have lost this community spirit of looking after and helping and protecting one another. They've formed their own social "pack" and size, shape, colour, breed etc are not important to them - yes, there's a lot we could learn. Good to hear from you, and I hope all is going well for you.

An endearing post Wendy and it is a pity Evie was attacked by another dog like this. Dogs are unpredictable and can attack for reasons we don't know and this is one of the reasons why I am wary in the park on my run because dogs seem to attack anyone running. A pit-bull type dog went for my face once and the dog was on a lead. The young girl had a hard job controlling the dog, but I was unharmed. It terrified me Wendy. These therapy dogs have good homes and owners and this good behaviour is promoted by good environments and good treatment. I enjoyed your fine story Wendy, love Dolly x x x

Thank you Dolly. That must have been a very frightening experience as such dogs are often stronger than their owners. My daughter was bitten by a dog once and to this day she is nervous of dogs. Yes these therapy dogs are all treated very kindly and with love, and they seem to have formed themselves into a little family group too. It's actually very moving to watch them together.

An amazing account of doggie concern. Is not something one might expect from animals. Is it i something they pick up from humans or do we pick it up from them. Makes you wonder doesn't it?

I think it is innate and intrinsic to many animals, and I see it less and less in humans these days. These dogs have either formed into a friendship group or a family group (is it pack instinct?), and breed, size, shape, colour etc are all unimportant. It's very moving to see them together.

Thank you so much Gretchen. A lovely review. They seem to have formed a little family, and size shape, colour, breed etc are all unimportant. Lessons for humans!

I really love reading the stories you write about the dogs as they comfort others. It is giving me a greater appreciation for the sensitivity and intelligence of dog.

This is a lovely report of the super-sensitivity which has been noticed in a number of species of our animal friends: the cat which knows which patient will die next and keeps them company, the horse which I saw adjust its speed and gait according to the age of the child on his back, etc, etc. We can only admire and respect their superior brain-power in these areas.

Yes, such intuition innate in most animals is extraordinary, and worthy of our respect and admiration - and perhaps we should aim to be likewise. Breeds, size, shape, colour and looks are not important to them, and shouldn't be to us. Many thanks for your thoughtful review.

I couldn't love this story more. My goodness! Can we humans all learn the most important lesson there is to learn here, or WHAT? This is heartwarming, and you presented it with perfection, Wendy. Thank you for starting my Thanksgiving Day off on SUCH a perfect note. xoxox

I am so pleased you enjoyed this one, especially for your Thanksgiving Day, which I hope brings you much joy and happiness.
Your review was a delight to read - and yes, what is wrong with us humans, that we can't do likewise? The dogs are all breeds, colours, shapes and sizes - and such things are not a problem for them.
