You done good, Dad!!! Raised you up a sharpie there!! (I hope you know that's a loving tease...) Why isn't that boy on FS and raising up the caliber of all our writers?
This was a delightful look into many things: His intelligence, yours, his creativity, yours, and your beautiful, RESPECTFUL, intellectual, accepting relationship. I repeat: You done good, Dad!!! xoxoxox

Wow what a fascinating conversation!!! I dread to think what my sons would make of my poetry lol. I always become tongue tied when reviewers occasionally ask me what I mean by something I've written in a poem.

I think we have all become a bit tongue-tied. Thank you for reading the story. I had fun putting it together. And thank you for the very nice review.

Yes, that was a terrific exchange. Your son is very perceptive, and has great suggestions.
I have similar exchanges with my daughter who serves in the capacity of developmental editor for my novels. I can count on her to give me critical feedback to help me keep it real, show more character development, close any plot holes, cut down on less interesting parts, and beef up others.
Isn't it great to have one of your kids be able to communicate with you like that?

I know my children have developed their own interpretation of life, and long story short, they have still held to the basic principals of love and grace towards their own, giving value to others, writing is part of that, planting good seed among the weeds, beautifully written, blessings, Roy

I was given that same feedback some time ago. Prose is my thing, but I like to write haiku where every word counts. I also like flash fiction, again every word counts. I am working on prose, fleshing out the picture with words. Anyway, this is a great contest entry. You have a beautiful relationship with your son. Have a blessed day.

There is some heartfelt truth written here. I feel the same when I have exchanges with my son who is now 24 and a Captain in the British Army. It's so thrilling when they become their own thinking being and you have summed this up perfectly. Well done. (Love the end especially.)

Ciao!
It 's lovely to see that some fathers and sons still feel the need to hear each other .. my father and I never went beyond the usually: feeling good today?
Actually exchange , share , confront thoughts on deep topics was unthinkable.
So that's what I thought was the most precious thing that transpired from this entry .. you have a meaningful relationship/bond with you son.
That said I thought you did a great job in the Nanni contest . You out lined what are the major ailments of our society today.
Your poem is :
One for food of thought,
Or Though provoking .
Each reader will have a different view or conclusion because we all have different life experiences.

You summed it up most accurately. Thanks

I really enjoyed reading this. It's a bit similar to the exchanges I have with my own son, who is so darn intelligent that I am often left feeling quite intimidated, impressed and proud, all at the same time. I remind myself that he feels comfortable being himself around me and allowing me to have truthful, authentic conversations.
Thanks for sharing!

A beautiful exchange indeed. I too come from a family where father (me) and son write. This touched me and I became proud along with you. I loved it!
Hitting home! Best, JohnC
