A well chosen font that reminds this reader of love letters to one's husband or boyfriend. Alliteration of the whispering 's' sound in lines 2,3, and 4 complete the romantic touch. Good luck in the contest.

Thank you for the review on this one. I don't usually do cinquains so if anything about it is done right, I'm pleased.

This is so atmospheric I can almost smell the sandalwood. Your cinquain flows with poignancy and love and is an excellent contender, perfectly fulfilling the brief. Good luck, Beth! Debbie

This is something new for me. It was five years since I'd won first and then two in less than a week. I should buy a lottery ticket. LOL

-Very nice artwork and presentation, Beth.
-The syllable count is good, along with the topic.
-Very good imagery appealing to sight, scent, and sound.
-You also create a peaceful mood with candles "glowing softly."
-Very good closing lines, as well.
-A very good entry; good luck!!

Thank you Pam. I've been avoiding short poems that don't rhyme because they're not my favorites but I might as well see if I figure out why some seem to like them. Maybe is because theyare short and you don't need to spend much time writing or reading them.

You are welcome, Beth. I think you have the right answer, but I would also say write what you want to. It's okay do a mix of things which could be a win win situation.

Often certain scents do bring back fond memories. Sometimes, not so fond memories. I enjoyed reading your contest entry. Thank you for sharing it with us and I want to wish you the best of luck with the contest.

Thank you Barbara. I appreciate the review. I'm not fond of short poems that don't rhyme, but I thought I'd give it a try. Scents do bring back memories. For me, Old Spice might have been a better trigger. He used that after shave.

Oh, yes, Beth. I can so identify with this. It's a beautiful Cinquain poem, of nights like that. It so reminds me of winter nights back in Denmark when we would be cosy and warm inside in the cosy flicker of candlelights, while winter was raging outside. All the best of luck. Ulla:)))

Stunning, Beth! The words are so emotion filled, the memories the candle's and the scent of sandlewood, have brought about this amazong cinquain poem. It's an excellent contest entry, and I wish you the very best of luck! Warmest hugs, my friend. Sandra xx
