This lengthy chapter feeds all the background into this cycle of abuse. It is knowledge, of course, that has been gleaned later in life although parts of the jigsaw puzzle were coming together at the time. We would call it here in the UK the sort of read you would expect from a 19th century Dickens story, such is the entrenched nature of the abuse being perpetuated. The only difference being that Dickens always painted his characters with some redeeming qualities rather than simply making them black or white. There are 2 small edits I noticed: (19th line from the bottom- 'O' instead of 'I'; "She had nine children most of (whom)..." Also, ideally, it would have read better if you'd double-spaced the paragraphs. But this is well written with clarity, giving detailed context to all the suffering being experienced. Excellently done, Lea. Take care Debbie x

Debbie, I'm always happy to see the original reviews and I like reading what you create as well. You're very I want to keep using the word insightful. But it's only one I can think of that. A person who really clarifies what's truly going on rather than what people think is what's going on if that makes sense. You have that rare quality and I thank you for it and forior edit. I shall certainly make those changes thank you again my friend. I hope your day is the most amazing!

It seems you have to keep explaining the same thing over and over. I guess new people might be starting to read your words. Until children are considered adults sometimes that are trapped in situation beyond their control. They aren't always believed. If you mother or grandmother really believed you might die from somthing your stepfather' actions surely they would know that would harm their reputation.

They're only motivation. Unfortunately, was to cover it up. That's all they thought about. Cover it up cover it up and they thought about how to protect themselves. Extremely narcissistic people. That's how narrow they're thinking was and is. I'm always happy to see your reviews and your questions. I really appreciate you! Thank you again!

This is hard to even imagine family members doing this to the children. You used very good descriptive words. I can relate to being abused by a family member. I am like you in that I hope it helps someone else today. love and blessings, Teri

I realized how difficult it is to get out of those kinds of situations all along.
The fact that your grandmother was in that position absolutely made it a lot harder for you.
My heart breaks that you had to endure this.
I'm glad you made it.

Thank you Chuck. It was a question people asked. I got it a few times so I thought it may be good to put out. Just a brief explanation even though we've gone through it. And I have encouraged those who couldn't read the chapters. But I thought well. Some people are jumping in in the middle. So I'll just go ahead and give them an explanation. Very much appreciate you Chuck! I used to see things exactly as they are a fine trait you should always keep. Thank you again my friend. I really appreciate it. I hope you have the best day ever!

What horror that have been, living in that vicious circle. If only you'd gone to church and showed everyone your bruises and wounds. She'd have had no way of lying out of that. Hindsight is so good, and you were just a child.

That's a good idea. Unfortunately, the thought didn't cross my mind at the time or so much. I didn't know but in hindsight if I could do things different in a perfect world. That would have been one of them. My mother's indifference, my family's complicity. And the power positions they held kept me held where I was rooted. At all things change just a matter of time. So I made the change I had to. I so appreciate you reading and offering your kind compassionate comments. And insightful and kind reviewer thank you again!

That makes a lot of sense, Lea. How could you have trusted the police or any authority figure when everyone one you knew was corrupt and cared nothing for you and your predicament.
As a child, how could you have known what was going on behind the scenes? All you could see was that no matter what you did to report the abuse, the same pattern kept reoccurring, and nothing was done to change your circumstances.
That had to have been incredibly discouraging, leaving you with the only viable option: to get out again for good and take your chances in the outside world. It had to be less dangerous than what you were currently facing. I wish that 16-year-old girl good luck and that she finds someone to show her the kindness she sorely deserves.
I'm assuming that picture is of you, Lea. What a beautiful, but haunted-looking girl you were. - Jim

Hi Jim, thank you so much for such a great review always so right on the money awesome! You're empathy and compassion and you're a wonderful thing. It's nice to feel supported. It really is when it's a foreign feeling really. So I keep looking around for something that says I don't deserve it which is kind of weird. I know but it's learning behavior I that is so much better than it used to be. Thank you again my friend. I appreciate you and your kind words as well as your wonderful review. Please enjoy your day!

You had a wise head on your shoulders at a very young age to understand the politics behind what your Grandmother was doing and your Stepfather and you navigated the situation in order to not make matters worse. It must have been a terrible situation to find yourself in and you knew there would be consequences should you make the wrong decision for you and your sisters, a fine chapter Lea, love Dolly x x. x

Thank you my friend Dolly I appreciate this so much! You are a really good practical thinker. And you do remind me of my little sister in some ways. She was quieter and you know what? I can't help but wonder if that was not the better path to take. He that doesn't make it was what it was. I don't like thank you again for your insight which is amazing and for your kind review. I hope you have the best day thanks again!
