I enjoyed reading your story. I like your creativity, who would have thought of a Texas Ranger Ghost? And he is talking to another person before he crosses over. I do not see room for improvement. Have a blessed day.

This is a very funny story for Halloween and I think children would love this as I did. I like the idea of a ghost and someone who's three quarters dead. Very funny. They need to come to our shores and scare off all the illegals!! Good luck.

This is funny. I believe in a great many things. There are angels here on earth, there are ghosts. It is possible that things we can not see that we cab hear, or smell, or feel. Makes life interesting. Karen

First, I love the photo that accompanies the story, the dude just looked 'scary cool' if that's a thing. Well, I'll make that a thing.
Next part of what I like about this piece is the jargon between the two ghosts, the slang the speech and spelling matches that cowboy era. The red highlights distinguished whose talking -nice distinction.
It was bit long winded that's my biggest dislike or disappointment. Scary and quick and witty leaves a lasting impression I believe.
Again. I really enjoyed the originality and 'fun jabbing' the political poke about the border problem. It was risky to address that sensitive issue, but you swing for the fences. Real nice .

Thanks, Ellen, for reading and for your opinion. It's funny, my sister says my dialogues are always too short. She gets to the end and thinks, well what happened next. As to the political problem, I have been addressing it for the past few years. Somebody needs to.
Thanks again for taking the time to give a thorough critique.

Hi Katharine,
this was funny, and so original. I didn't realize that being dead and almost dead were so close together. What a great story for Halloween. It's almost upon us, not that I'm in any rush. We've had moose running around the neighborhood, so I suspect that most of the kids will have to have their parents run them from house to house in order to be safe. Thanks for sharing this gal.
Have a blessed evening.
Tom

Tom, It's hard for me to imagine moose running around neighborhoods. I've been thinking about Halloween this year and with all the illegals here, I may turn our all the lights and stay in the back of my house. I have always enjoyed the kids, big as well as little, having fun dressing up, but I don't know about opening my door to grown "kids" today. Isn't this a sad state of affairs.
    Thanks for reading my silliness!!

I understand your concerns Katharine. Especially where you are living. You need to stay safe. Do you have a means of protecting yourself? It doesn't have to be a gun, some pepper spray would work just fine. Also having an air horn that they use for boats wouldn't be a bad idea. It's compact and uses compressed air, but if you blow it, people will hear it. I don't like the idea of you being by yourself. Hopefully your neighbors are close by and are good enough to you they could help if a need arose. Take care of yourself gal.
    Blessings,

You are a dear to be concerned. I do have a gun but with my arthritic hands I really need something I don't have to pull back the top to cock it. And I do have pepper spray, but my main deterrent by my bed (you're going to laugh) is wasp spray - because it shoots out real far and if somebody breaks in, I could hopefully zap 'em before they get too close. So... I don't think I'll do Halloween or I might leave a bowl of candy on the porch.
Thanks for your suggestion. Air horn, hmmmm :)
