Brett, As I read this informative and insightful story. I thought about one of my favorite comics and how it has changed with the times. And then I read that next time you will cover Blondie! Dang, ESP. Good work. Terry.

Thank you for sharing this series with us. I enjoyed reading. I had a few favorite comics that I read for years. You are hitting on one of them in your next one, 'Blonde'. I wonder if you're going to touch on the others.

I am really enjoying your series on comics. I've always loved Comic book art. It really can be a way to date an Era though. Even when the artist changes the style to change with the times, you can date it. Very interesting. And I love the length of these. Gretchen

Hi Brett, I've known comics all my life and I'm sure they would have been around well before then. Today I don't know much about them. As you say they will be on the Internet. Ulla:)))

I agree comics help dictate the culture and how the political landscape is and ought to be.
This and comics have always had a great following by the masses. I wasn't aware the millennials were comic fiends as well. That makes sense since they spend so much time on the internet.
This series is well documented and I look forward to reading Blondie the next part of the series.
Jesse

An original and interesting theme here, Brett, with your post on comic strips. I would have imagined that they are less popular today but the fact they're going digital is a good sign because they are great fun and we need more laughs today. Thanks for sharing, Debbie

This is an interesting, informative read about modern day comics compared to original comic strips which "have informed readers and been influenced by current events" historically. I am not a fan of comic strips but my two 30 something year old sons seem to enjoy the modern versions.

A fascinating introduction to a world I know nothing about. I know that graphic novels are popular with adults but I didn't know it was all going digital. Thanks for sharing this. Just a note that the word in your title should be 'Effects' not 'Affects'. You want the noun not the verb.

Thanks Brett. Great to see the next idea here. My take on digital comics is to merge it with the rise of the modern Fairy Tale, especially those spun by Studio Ghibli - most of whose films I have seen (and own) - and I suppose they also encompass the genre of 'Fable'. The rise of Manga (this must be coming soon) has made the 'comic' a different thing - but I also know of a host of modern independent comic makers in the USA and Europe, who are reaching millions on line. Not only available in 'kindle' form but also as chapter books with real pages!

This suggests that, in spite of the rise of IT and AI, the comic is still in a very healthy state.

Best wishes, Paul
