Too many children like you and your sisters are abused by those who are supposed to love and protect them. I am sure this was a hard one for you to write but I hope it helped to dispel some ghosts. Just a couple of edits

This story is a chapter in my book called "Ghost" an autobio. The cork on the well spring has been pulled. It will all come out, but in deference to the people involved, I've given no names, locations, or dates. It would be easy to figure out I'm sure, but not by me. Your story should be told, but probably, they will disqualify you from the contest. It doesn't really matter. I have read your story, and I am sure a lot of others have too. As I said, it needs to be heard.

Although at times it can be a hard read for some. You hit the nail on the head. It does need to be told. The light needs to be shown and keep on shining until we find a healthy balance. I like your style and choice of picture. The story is horrifying that no adult took notice or asked questions. Your post makes clear that running away was the only way to escape except that you were too young and had no money. I hope you are in a better place now and that someday your mother and stepdad will get what they deserve!

WOW, although this is not a flash story, it is a very powerful piece. As the father of two daughters, situations like you found yourself in are repulsive to me. Thank you for your fine review for your rating. I am humbled and appreciative. And yes, we all survived, but not without our scars. And then having to deal with life when not taught to us. This is so sad. They did the right thing by running away, but there was nowhere to go where they could be safe and no one seems to care enough to help them. No choices for children who desperately need to be loved and cherished. It doesn't appear they get either.
