Interesting Christmas story combining quite a few themes, including a talking (and a bit bossy) cat, some American history, and the Christmas story, woven seamlessly. Well done.

Hello Terry,
I rather enjoyed this Christmas story. I don't think I've ever heard a holiday story involving both Native Americans and cats, but there's a first time for everything. I've of course heard of Kit Carson, but never really knew much about him. Did he indeed marry a native gal? It would only make sense. Thanks for sharing this.
Have a blessed evening.
Tom

Tom, thank you for reading. Kit did marry three times and had 10 kids. He married an Arapaho, a Cheyenne, and a white woman. My story was a composite fictional account based on some truth. Terry.

Such an interesting story! I love that the cat tells it. It's a great combination of history and legend, blended with Christmas. I don't drink, but I thought the brandy glass was called a snifter. Lots of good details in this story for interest. Blessings. Carol

Carol, thank you for the six stars and your fine review. And right you are about the snifter...LOL, I guess in Texas, I just thought I was sniffing. Got it changed. Terry.

I enjoyed this tale, especially since I recently posted two Native American stories. By the way, if my aging brain isn't completely gone, I believe Jim Bridger was in a few episodes of "Wagon Train." I never really did much research on Kit Carson, other than being a fan of the old western TV series that had nothing to do with real life. Didn't know he was born on Christmas Eve.

I do love a legend. I also live when the legend is an interesting story as well. So Holly 27 is part native American. Who knew? Terry knew. Great story and very entertaining. Gretchen

I like how you wove in some history and mythology and legend together with the Christmas story! You should have entered this into the Christmas story contest. Anyway, loved the story and how you banter back and forth between yourself (Cat Daddy) and Holly.

"Au contraire mon cheri (cher) the masculine form is just cher. The feminine is ma cherie.

Helen, thank you for the star-star review. I took French in high school and college and made a D- in both courses. No wonder I needed some edits. LOL, Terry.

I truly enjoyed this story, especially since a cat was telling it. I love animal stories. As I read the story, I imagined the face of Bill Williams who stared in the 1951 to 1955 Adventures of Kit Carson TV show. My father watched every week. This story is well written, full of description, action, and authentic dialogue. Well done.

No less than a six will do. You might want to consider a compendium of Christmas tales. This is both historical and whimsical. (Who wouldn't love a talking cat named Holly?) As part Algonquin in heritage, I love the way you gently blend the beliefs of Native Americans with those of Christians.

You have that masterful touch, Terry. Kitt and Cat! The "circumstance of Kitt Carson being born on Christmas Eve!

Love this...

Chloe is smiling down, I am SURE!

Karenina, thank you the six stars. I think we do need a whimsical category. I was really surprised to find out he was born on Christmas eve. Sort of like, you really need to write this story. Terry.

A delightful Christmas story, my friend. You've tapped into your childlike imagination again for this one. I can see this becoming a book too. Fresh, creative, spiritual, historically inspired and Catty! Sending you my best today as always and blessings for Christmas..
