You are bumming me out. Not really you are just so good. I am in a bad mood because my story " A sign of the times" was disqualified. They said it was not a flash piece because it was a narrative. It wasn't a narrative to her, she thought she was talking to Georgie, didn't she? And, they said there was no surprise. Well, she was surprised to remember her friend was dead. Ane we were surprised that they might be planning more adventures! I am upset Your story is very good. Karen

This is why I rarely enter contests. Sorry you got disqualified. Story was good

Mick Jager is 80 years old. I watched the Rolling Stones Tattoo Me tour in concert. It was a fun experience. I don't know what I would do if I met Jager in person. Cool entry for the Flash Fiction contest. Good luck!!!

Thank you. Usually don't win but always fun to try. Gretchen

I used to enter contest prompts but got tired of seeing the worst entries win. Now I only enter cash contests, they are free.

Problem solved, no more hangover. LOL This is engaging and uplifting in the beginning, but it was short-lived. I think he made a mistake
using earplugs while walking down RR tracks. I expected as much. LOL Well done Gretchen. Nancy:)

Not the smartest guy or gal. Thanks for this. Gretchen

Oops, "train keeps a running right on time." That's a good way to make your butt pucker worse than and 80-year-old Jagger. And I wouldn't even want to imagine that of Keith Richards at 79. Thanks for sharing.

They're petrified. The narrator was puree'd. Lol. Thanks for this. Gretchen

Oh, damn!
That was the last surprise in H / H's life.
This is well put together and has your usual element of 'surprise.'
Always a fan! Best, JohnC

Of course I am just dying to know what the surprise is...
Is it Mick...
Is it an X
Is it a car about to run you down
Is it your imagination....

Oh my goodness Gretchen, this is terrific! Oh dear, walking on those tracks is not such a good idea, especially when music is blasting in the ear, this guy did not live as long as the Stones, a great post for the contest, love Dolly x x x

And we'll never know will we? Some will even pick up your next post perhaps, in the hope it might be a continuation of the last one. You are truly a most frustration author to read.

I'll take that as a compliment. I find it more frustrating to be spoonfed by the author. Lol. Thank you for this amusing review. Gretchen

You really have great skill here, Gretchen, in engaging the reader instantly and creating an intriguing story, in this case never suffering from its economic form. I love the way it doesn't spoon-feed but leaves a question-mark and a sense of dread on my part. Well done and good luck! Debbie

Thank you. I just got called a frustrating writer because I leave endings open ended. I like for the reader to decide what happens next. Thank you for this. Gretchen

I agree. And, anyway, we're talking about a flash here and tidying it up too neatly just doesn't allow the story to take shape.

Clever link of tracks on the ground and tracks in your ears. Great refrain of 'imagine my surprise as'. Really carefully worked out and an excellent read. Well done, as always.
