Great handling of rhyme here, unforced on the whole, although I'm not so keen on 'disappears from face'. But a happy tribute to this essential role in society. Well done and thanks for sharing.

The author's words are interesting, descriptive and creative. The poem
flows and connects well. The poem made me think of boy who delivered
the paper to our home. The poem brings back many memories. Thank
you for the author's notes - great that you delivered medicines to the
elderly and sick. The artwork is perfect and compliments this poem well!

Nice poem of your youth. It reminds me when I was a kid, I mowed lawns and delivered newspapers to make a little pocket money. Nice reference to Gunga Din.

Paul thanks for the kind review. Yes, I think many of us would have had a job to do so as to earn some more money. I recall getting a lot of tips. Those were the days.
Take care.

I think errand boys are very much needed and they don't use them over here but I can imagine how useful they are, I felt the sense of urgency and hard work in these words, much enjoyed Barry, love Dolly x

I was an errand boy, my very first job, I often wonder about the people I worked with, way back then, I drove my bicycle around the streets of Adelaide, I swept the floors, for that I earned the princely sum of £3:10, £2 went to mum, £1 for weekly fares, and 10 shillings for me. Beautifully written, blessings Roy

Roy, you do have a great memory. All I recall is that I did very well from tips ( usually 20 cents or the old 2 shillings ). Glad you enjoyed the poem and also glad it was a happy trip down memory lane. Take care.

Great memories
Comment from Isabel Fontes
This poem is exquisite; it evokes a memory of a past moment.
I appreciate the repetition, the structure, the flow, and the perfect rhyme scheme. Interestingly, this poem now brings to mind Uber Eats drivers.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.

Isabel,
Thanks for your kind review. Glad you enjoyed it. Yes, Uber eats is really no different. Just most seem to drive a car over here. Have a good day and take care.

I enjoyed this free verse with its lovely rhyme evoking those memories for you and the reader of the errand boy. There's a sweet poignancy in the tone and a rather timeless feel to the poetry style. Excellent! Debbie
