Another interesting narrative, Jim. I like the explanation of the 'feathery' - I think it's in the St.Andrew's clubhouse that they have a case displaying the 'evolution of the golf ball' - and in BBC documentary last year they gave a detailed explanation. Aggie has done a fine job there.
Oh those tedious Snogs! It will take five chapters to explain the meeting and ten more to play the match - I may not be able to read by then! Though I'm still not sure playing when you're ready is such a good idea - people will be hitting golf balls at the same time!
Still, lots more to come in this saga. Thanks for all the entertainment, Jim.
Best wishes from Paul

You've got it. The Snogs are like the Ents in Tolkien's LOTR trilogy; everything is a big deal needing endless discussions. I'll try to cut to the chase with them.
I don't think we'll see "ready golf" anytime soon in the professional world, but many of us play that way in the US. There usually isn't a problem with two hitting at the same time as long as you stay aware of what the other players are doing. I've seen a number of articles in the golf magazines that promote this way of playing when playing casual golf rounds as a means to speed things up, as rounds can take upwards of 4 1/2 hours when people aren't trying to keep pace.

Still going great guns, Jim.

I guess there was a purpose for the portal bringing us to England, but I was enthralled with Aurie, Killian and friends previously. Might this be leading to The Open? And what in the hay is barry, braw and ells?

It may one day be leading to The Open (I've always thought that term to be rather snobbish--as if they are the only open there is!) but it won't be in this story.
Check the list of terms in the Author Notes at the bottom for definitions of those Scottish words.

Back in the day The Open was the only game in town, no?
