Oh, now you have me tearing up. And it's so painful to have to put a pet to sleep. I had to do that for our previous cat when she had kidney failure. I saw the light go out of her eyes and will never forget that. So I know how much it affected you since you had Chelsea for 14 years and she was so devoted and attached to you. Thanks for sharing! Best wishes in the contest!

Very nice story. Very well written. Good work.
Dachshunds are among the smartest of all the breeds. Too bad they never could figure out how not to look so goofy. (smiley face here)
Good luck in the contest.

Thanks, Wayne. You're so right about dachshunds. Chelsea had a stubborn streak too...she always got the last bark. I appreciate your review. John

I love animal stories, as I am also a dog person. Even though I don't currently have a dog, I grew up as a child with many, many dogs. I enjoyed reading this heartwarming tribute to Chelsea. You made the reader love her almost as much as you did. Best wishes in the contest.

They do don't they? Wheedle their way into our hearts, we're on our fifth dog, all are remembered, all are still precious, none we chose, they were all "accidentally" inherited, all needed a home, even the latest, a small piece of doganamity, a Moodle, adopted by necessity, beautifully written John, blessings, Roy

Thanks, Roy. I've had dogs all my life...mainly strays and mongrels growing up, and each and every one was special and memorable in their own way. God's little gifts. Appreciate the review. Blessings to you as well. John

Thank you for this lovely story. I enjoyed reading it, even though I've never owned a dog myself. I love the way you described Chelsea's arrival - a temporary guest who became permanent. You must be so glad now that you agreed to take her in, and pepperoni and cheese - she had great taste!

Thank you for your lovely review. You're right. We would have missed out on so much had she not entered our lives. It's amazing how such a small little being can have such great impact. And she did have great taste! Your review made me smile and I really appreciate it. John

John, This is a very sweet, but also bittersweet story about your little Chelsea that has gone to the Rainbow Edge with all the other little animals that have gone on. I just bet she has met some of our little cats there too. Thank you for sharing! May God bless you today and always my friend! Teri

Okay, okay I can not stop crying... animals can be so endearing and so very loveable... There is no way around it...Even if you try to keep away from them...they will find you... I love the photo and obviously your true story....

Thank you Lisa. You're absolutely right. There's no way we can be around them and them not pick at our heartstrings. It's total and unconditional love. I appreciate your review.

Oh, John, I'm so sorry. Losing a beloved dog, I understand. I've yet to replace him.

August also means respected and impressive. Although it's hot, many of my family members were born and died in August. My birthday is Thursday.

Sending you my best today as always, and best wishes for the true story contest.
Sal :))
