What a lovely cameo of this gracious grandmother's life! Full of grace and love and delight in the youngest of the family. To this day, my husband still remembers his grandmother secretly giving him candy when her daughter, his mother, wasn't watching. I love stories about generational bonds. I find this one very touching.

This is an unusual entry in this contest, the lady in question seems to be a spoiler of kids, so all I can say is good on her, kids should be spoilt by grandparents but parents are really responsible for the discipline end nurtute. Beautifully written, blessings, Roy

This lovely hundred-worder is a wonderful observation of a moment in time. (Just check that you have kept to the present tense throughout - probably should be 'clutches' her purse eg.)

This old lady is being patronized by her well-meaning relatives, who haven't realized that she has 'all her marbles' intact! So, slyly, she waits her opportunity to show her affection with hugs and sweets once the over-protective relatives have left them alone.

I feel like I've seen this over and over when people visit their elderly relatives. It's no doubt one of the many reasons that the bond between generations 1 and 3 is so strong.

You have observed the old lady well - clutching at her purse as a defensive/security action is typical of old ladies. My mother and all her sisters used to do exactly the same thing.
Thank you for this very accomplished piece.
Paul

This is a wonderful study of this adorable grandmother and I'm so sorry I'm unable to award it a 6. It deserves this so much for the skill, sensitivity and emotive content of your love story. Wow! Debbie

This one-hundred-word story, Halmeoni, is a neat "screenshot" of a grandmother's desire to fill her role as the parents' parent and bringer of gifts. Nice.
